As Promised, a Whole Bunch More...

In part one, we showed you ten ways to Hamstoo. As promised, here are ten, 12 more—sorry, we couldn't help ourselves.

11) Analog to Digital

We’re busily working on enabling you with the ability to take photos of text from analog (paper!), books, and magazines and send them to Hamstoo. We’ll convert the images to text and make them searchable to your future you, just like any other mark.

12) Automark

Configure Hamstoo for Chrome to automagically mark websites you visit after a minute or two. Then visit your list of marks to see your web history synthesized into a cohesive whole. For example, spend an hour researching new mobile phones. What did you learn along the way? Which phone should you buy? How would you even know without Hamstoo? And please don't say "pen and paper."

13) Dream Idea Catcher

None of us control the winds on which ideas float into our brains. How many genius ideas have been forgotten because the thinker didn’t have anywhere convenient to put them? Hamstoo makes it quick and easy to jot down ideas, as they drift by, and they’ll all be happily waiting where you can find them later.

14) Document storage.

Have you ever received an email with a link to your phone bill that requires you to login to your phone company's website to see it? I don't know about you, but I'm tired of logging into those websites over and over and over again when I'm renegotiating my rates. And if I want to take notes on it, then fuggetaboutit, I'll just print out some paper. Don't download and email yourself the PDF. Don't print any paper. Just Hamstoo it. Let Hamstoo for Chrome save it for you and jot those notes right there in your browser.

15) Library Search

Lots of documents in an unsearchable folder on your computer? Academic articles perhaps? Upload them to Hamstoo and suddenly you have a place to write notes intrinsically connected to each article. We’ll help you make sense of the article texts and your notes, combined.

16) Instructions and Warranties

Have you ever looked through an instruction booklet of a product you own? Why not store it in Hamstoo along with the part number? And while you’re at it, go and highlight that lonely line on page 71, the only one you were really looking for in the first place. Use Hamstoo to save part numbers, scanned warranties or serial numbers, or simply bookmark the warranty's web page.

17) Keep a diary.

Hamstoo can help you mindfully record life events. See how they relate to each other—and how they relate to other stuff you mark. Pro tip: Label your diary entries with a “Diary” label to make them extra easy to find and view on your My Marks page.

18) Lists and To-Do's

Create to-do or wish lists of movies or books you want to see or read some day. Hamstoo is also a great place for keeping lists of gift ideas when the next gift-giving holiday is months away.

19) Write a blog.

Hamstoo is good for writing blog posts (like this one!) because it allows you to collect related ideas for new posts all in one place. Write privately at first, and then share/publish when you’re ready. Not to mention, Hamstoo is designed from the ground up for highlighting web pages, which makes it easy to incorporate highlights into your posts as well.

20) Anatomy of a News Story

Most reported news is binary. Two opposing sides, and only two sides are reported. That is how we humans most easily understand the world. But why? An entire labyrinth of history precedes such tellings and another future one will follow. Where do the two sides come from? What else remains untold that doesn’t fit the two-sided framing? Hamstoo analytics can help you answer these questions.

21) Study for a class.

Use Hamstoo to take notes for a class. We’ll help you organize your thoughts into cohesive units based on their content. We are working on developing automatic outlining so you can see all your related information grouped together in a nice, clean hierarchy of thought.

22) Don’t search twice.

Have you ever searched online for something twice and said to yourself: "I know I searched for this once before. I remember finding what I was looking for, but now where is it?" Some of the links are purple, some are blue. But only one of those purple links had that high-quality information that you’re now searching for again. If you could just remember which one it was—hmmm. Adding a rating would help of course, but Hamstoo can remember for you. We can show you how much time you spent at each link, which makes it easy to figure out from there.
