Whether your stuck indoors in trying times or you're just bored out of your mind, everyone deserves a hobby they can get passionate about. As your designated, dedicated Craft Nerd I've taken it upon myself to compile an almost definitive list of creative hobbies and pastimes. I guarantee you'll find your new passion right here! Even if you're think you have zero creative talent, I promise you'll find something there that's right for you.

This is an A-Z compilation post designed for everyone, I've tried to include all the crafty hobbies I can find so that there's something for everyone of all ages, genders and personalities. To keep it short and sweet, I'll be adding very brief descriptions. Each hobby is linked to a beginners guide on the subject, if you decide you want to know more then I recommend searching on Google, Pinterest and Youtube. If you need tools and you're in lock down, then Amazon is your friend. Some of these creative skills must be practised outside your home of developed under formal education, but you can still learn about them and store them for future adventures.

3D Art - Learn to draw 3D optical illusions, all you need is a pen and paper.

3D Printing - If you have a 3D printer you can make some really cool things.

Aquascaping - It's like underwater gardening you can do in an aquarium.

Animation - Learn to make animations.

Architecture - More of an in-depth skill, the art and design of buildings.

Acrylic Paint - A type of paint that can be used on many surfaces.

Baking - Making yummy treats.

Blogging - Start an online journal or even a small business.

Booksmith - Learn to make books from scratch.

Banner-Making - Not just for parties, banners are also cute home decor.

Balloon Art - Making balloon sculptures, from easy to intricate.

Body Painting - Similar to face painting, endless possibilities.

Bento Boxes - The art of Japanese lunch boxes and making cute food.

Bead Melting - Simple, cheap fun for all ages. Melt plastic beads in to art.

Bone Carving - Learn to carve jewellery and utensils from animal bones.

Button Art - Pictures made out of buttons, can be used with other hobbies (i.e - card making)

Dress Making - The art of sewing and making clothes.

Diamond Art - A popular, easy craft. It's like painting by numbers but you stick little gemstones to a pattern.

Decoupage - Cutting and sticking projects for all ages. Customise and upcycle things or create collage art.

Drawing - All you need is a pencil and paper, you can learn the basics with a few easy tutorials.

Design - Design thinking is a skill used in all areas of art and design, so it's a valuable skill for any creative soul to learn.

Illustrator - You can learn to create stunning illustrations by hand or on your PC.

Ice Sculpting - Create sculptures from solid ice blocks by cutting it with a chainsaw, chisels and other tools.

Jewellery Making - There are thousands of different ways to make jewellery, so it depends of the style you would like to try. Here's a basic guide.

Keepsake Art - A super sweet activity for you and your loved ones and little ones. You can make keepsake art using hand prints, clothes and lots of other materials you may already have.

Leatherwork -Teach yourself to make different types of leather accessories and items such as wallets, belts, bags, jewellery and even clothes.

Lace Making - This one is a bit trickier and you'll need good eye sight, a steady hand and lots of patience; but at the end you'll be able to make beautifully intricate lace.

Lapidary - The art of cutting, shaping and polishing gemstones, for use in jewellery etc.

Lucet - A lucet is a simple, two pronged device used to weave fabric cords. It pairs with hobbies like Knitting, Crochet and Yarn Art.

Lomography - A distinctive style of pop photography that produces stunning results.

Logo Designer - Usually paired with Graphic Design, you can learn to design winning logos for yourself and others.

LARP Costuming - LARP stands for Live Action Role Play and it's a really popular social activity where people often dress up in character. You can learn to create characters and make them come alive with handmade costumes.

Manga Artist - A popular style of drawing across Asia, originating from Japan.

Mixology - The art/alchemy of mixing novelty drinks and cocktails. Science for adults who like alcohol.

Macramé - A type of fibre art originating from China, it involves knotting thick cord to create home furnishings and more.

Makeup Art - With so many looks, styles and inspirations available the possibilities are endless. Use your face as a canvas and transform yourself in to other people, creatures or beings with makeup.

Model Building - Kit models are a classical pastime that has remained a firm favourite throughout the years. Though you can make your own, you're more likely to find DIY kits that come with everything you need. Here's a starters guide.

Miniatures - Everything you love can be made smaller, just search online and you'll find everything from mini dolls and dioramas to fully working micro kitchens that are fully functional.

Needle Felting - A form of fibre art, needle felting is really easy to learn and you will be able to make a variety of soft sculptures.

Needle Point - This type of embroidery can be found in ready made kits. It is a counted thread embroidery where the thread is stitched through a stiff canvas with little holes. You usually follow a pattern but you can also make your own.

Nail Art - From basic nail polish to gels and acrylics, there's many different types of nail art tutorials available for all skill levels. Turn your nails in to 2D painting of even a 3D sculpture.

Outdoor Crafts This is a term for anything relating to art outdoors, whether that's doing art outside or bringing nature inside. There's plenty of Outdoor Crafts for Kids too.

Origami - The art of paper folding, great for all ages and skill levels and all you need is a piece of paper!

Oil Painting - A specific type of paint that has different effects and qualities, it's often used to create textured paintings and it has a slower drying time.

Photo Manipulation - Though the most widely known software is Photoshop, you can apply these tutorials across any photo manipulation program. Bring your weirdest thoughts to life.

Poet ry - A spoken or written art that expresses emotions, ideas and feelings through words arranged in a distinct rhythm or pattern. Super easy to learn.

Perfume Making - You can buy DIY kits or learn to start from scratch. In perfume making you will learn how to design and create unique fragrances.

Portrait Artist - This can be paired with most art hobbies in this list, i.e Drawing, Painting, Manga, Caricatures. Learning to draw people is a fundamental art lesson.

Pottery - Also see Ceramics, Porcelain and Sculpting. Pottery is manipulating clay and baking it to create items like mugs, plates, vases, etc.

Porcelain - Porcelain is a type of material used in Pottery and Sculpting that has it's own unique qualities that require special skills that you can learn.

Papier Mâché - Another classic pastime usually associated with children but also mega fun for adults. Papier-mâché is usually made from paper or glue and you can mould it to create fun sculptures.

Puppet Making - Puppets are handmade, manually animated characters that are used to tell a story. This link will show you how to make an intricate, Muppet quality puppet, but you'll find tons of easy little ones at Puppet Making for Kids.

Puppetry - If you can't make your own puppet, you can still enjoy learning to move and control puppets by buying a ready made one. The art of bringing inanimate objects to life through movement and story telling.

Paper Art - There's loads of cool things you can do with a single sheet of paper, this links to a paper cutting tutorial that will teach you to cut intricate art in to paper.

Pastels - Pastels are a type of medium for drawing and colouring. They come in 4 forms and they produce intense, blendable colours. They're made from chalk.

Patchwork - A sewing craft where you arrange and sew small pieces of fabric together to create a larger design.

Photography - Learn how to take good photos of stuff! You don't need a fancy camera, you can just learn the basic composition rules with your phone camera.

Pyrography - Also known as wood burning, it uses a heated pen tool (or gun powder if you're a risk machine) to burn patterns in to any wooden item.

Quilting - If you're a card carrying member of the blanket empire then you'll love this hobby, which involves sewing multiple layers of fabrics together to create a thicker piece.

Quilling - Another low cost, paper art hobby; you roll strips of paper and glue them down in a pattern to create detailed paper filigree.

Recycled Art - Also see Upcycling, Recycled art is the term for all art where you use recycled materials, from restoring to re-purposing.

Reborning - A type of doll making where the goal is to create a life like baby doll with hyper realistic features. You can learn to revamp an already realistic doll of you can buy a blank kit to paint.

Rug Making - You can make incredibly detailed, arty rug using a special rug hook and a rug canvas or piece of burlap. You can also make cushions and wall hangings.

Robotics - Yep, robotics is an art form and you can totally teach yourself the basics from the comfort of your own home. Robot butler, here I come!

Resin - Is a liquid substance that dried solid and clear to form a durable plastic. You can make jewellery, 3D art and set objects to preserve them, such as flowers.

Sculpting - Though sculpting can be done with a range of different materials, clay is the most popular medium. You can make so many different things, all you need to do is choose a type of clay and play around.

Sewing - See also Dressmaking, Quilting and Patchwork. You can learn to sew by hand or with a sewing machine. You can make a huge range of fabric items.

Scrapbooking - Another fun cutting and sticking activity that you can enjoy on your own or with your family. You can use personal photos, fancy papers and stick on items to create and artistic photo book to cherish forever.

Special Effects Make Up - This type of make up is often seen in films or theatre and can help you create realistic gore, or fantasy creatures using make up and prosthetic.

Soft Sculptures - Though it can also refer to sculpting details in to fabric art with a needle, it's also used to refer to a piece with sculpted parts and soft parts, like a soft bodied art doll.

String Art - Made by hammering nails or pins in to a solid canvas such as a piece of wood and winding string around to create a larger geometric image.

Sugar Craft - Mostly seen in baking, sugar craft uses mould-able sugar to sculpt intricate, edible details.

Shoe Making - Why buy shoes when you could learn to make them? You can get all the tools and skills needed to make your own uniquely designed shoes at home once you know the process.

Shoe Painting - You can customise most leather and canvas shoes by painting on them, to give them a really unique flair. A great way to upcycle old kicks.

Soap Making - This simple and rewarding hobby is easy to do once you know the process and offers a wide range of customisation and art available. You can learn to make soap of all colours and fragrances and even novelty ones.

Stained Glass - Stained glass is frequently seen in churches and it is window art that uses different pieces of glass joined together with leading in a patchwork style. You can learn how to make proper stained glass, but there's also super easy replicas for children.

Street Art - The term used to describe any kind of art that is installed in an urban, public place; such as graffiti.

Shadow Theatre - Shadow puppets have been capturing the hearts and imaginations of children and adults around the world for thousands of years. This will show you an easy tutorial you can do on your own or with kids, to create a shadow box theatre and the puppets.

Sand Art - There's many different types of sand art: gluing sand in an arrangement on a piece of card or canvas, making patterns and mandalas in sand or filling up clear objects with different layers of coloured sand.

Singing - Something that anyone can learn for free, with no tools needed! All you need is your voice and some good tutorials and you can brush up on your vocal skills.

Taxidermy - The art of preserving dead animals and displaying them as lifelike as possible. Though it doesn't appeal to everyone, it has plenty of awesome skills that will appeal to biology nerds. You can even ethically source materials. Also see Vulture Culture.

Tie Dye - A fun and funky way for you to easily customise the design of your clothes using binding and dip dying to create a distinct look. A great project for adults and kids.

Tapestry - A type of textile art that you make by hand using a loom device.

Tatting - A type of durable, pretty lace made from knots, using a small hand shuttle.

T Shirt Design - T Shirt design is all about how to make an awesome t shirt, using composition and colour. It is the whole project from start to finish. If you want to revamp T Shirt you already own and want to spruce up check out T Shirt Customisation

Teddy Bear Crafter - Learn to craft one of the most iconic soft toys ever. Is there anything sweeter than a cuddly bear? Even the creepy ones are cute. Learn to make your own stuffed friend, you can even find simple patterns for children.

Terrariums - A terrarium is a tiny indoor garden that usually in a sealed glass container. You can arrange and decorate it however you want and when done properly, it needs very little maintenance as the water is 'recycled'.

Tattoo Art - From designing your own tattoos to actually learning the art of tattooing for yourself, if you have an interest in tattoos and body modification, you'll love learning about this art and its rich history.

Upcycling - See also Furniture Upcycling and Recycled Art. Upcycling is when you customise, restore or repurpose already existing items to give them a new burst of life.

Upholstering - Upholstery is the art of making furniture more comfortable with a distinct style of cushioning. When you learn this, you can easily modify your furniture. Works well with Upcycling projects.

Video Editing - Learn how to edit your videos in a visually pleasing way, so you can create captivating visuals for everyone to enjoy. Particularly appealing for aspiring YouTubers.

Video Game Developer - From simple text games, to fully working games with animated graphics; you can learn to make your own video games for all skill levels.

Ventriloquism - A fun, comedic hobby that has been a classic talent for decades. Ventriloquism is an illusion where a performer with a puppet projects their voice without moving their mouth and face, so that it appears that the puppet is talking. See also Puppet Making and Puppetry

Vulture Culture - See also Taxidermy and Bone Carving. Vulture Culture is the art of finding and preserving dead things from animals that have died in nature and using their remains in art, i.e bones, furs, pelts. It's often seen as more ethical, as the animals have usually died naturally.

Watercolour Painting - Watercolour is a type of paint where you mix the paints with water to create different effects. There are different types of watercolour paints and different papers and canvas. It's a good type of painting for beginners.

Wreath Making - A wreath is a decorative arrangement of flowers, twigs, bows and other decorations in a ring shape. They are often used as door decorations, holiday decorations and life event decorations. They're beautiful, styling and easy to make.

Woodwork - See also Carpentry, Whittling and Wood Carving. Wood work is the broad term used for crafts that are primarily made from wood and timber.

Writing - Writing is another free and easy hobby that you can start anytime, anywhere. Whether you enjoy fictional stories or non fiction like article writing, you can find loads of places to brush up your skills. If you already enjoy writing you might want to learn Touchtyping, so you can speed through your writing projects with ease.

Weaving - A broad term for a specific style of textile making that uses two sets of threads, horizontal and vertical, interlaced at right angles. It can be used to make baskets, clothing, fabrics and even paper crafts.

Whittling - The art of carving shapes and items out of small pieces of wood by removing small slices with a knife. All you really need is some scrap wood and a sharp knife. See also Wood Carving

Winemaking - If you're a wine connoisseur, you might be interested to learn the process involved and even try to make your own flavours at home. See also Home Brewing.

Wood Carving - A form of Woodwork that involves carving designs in to wood using cutting tools and/or chisels, usually on a larger scale than Whittling.

Web Designer - Whether you're wanting to make a personal blog or a portfolio websites for your crafty hobbies, Web Design is an incredibly useful. You can teach yourself how to make your own websites from scratch using various web languages and coding.

World Building - Always popular with kids but a firm favourite with nerdy adults too, World Building is an art form in itself. It's all about creating exciting, intricate worlds in video games like Minecraft, Roblox etc. You'll find a list of World Building Games.

Wax Art - See also Encaustic Art. You can melt wax scraps such as broken crayons and use them to create colourful, textured art.

Wig Maker - You can find out how to make your own wig from scratch, even lace fronted ones. You'll need a wig cap, hair and basic sewing skills.

Yarn and Fibre Art - Any kind of art that involves yarns, fabrics and fibres. There's so many ways to create things and so many inspirational ideas,

Yarn Bombing - Public graffiti for rebellious yarn artists.

Yodelling - Because why not? Yodelling is a distinctive form of singing originating from Switzerland and it's really fun to try to learn.
