Up until recently, I really, truly, hated cleaning. After I realized how empowering and relaxing cleaning could be, I quickly changed my mind. Cleaning is a way to take control of your life, show care for your things, and streamline your life.

When you actually learn how to clean your stuff easily, it also becomes a rather quick endeavor. As I've tidied up my apartment, I've learned a few cleaning hacks that really made keeping your home spotless easier than ever before.

Not sure where to start? Check out these awesome cleaning hacks that cut down cleaning time and keep your place looking amazing.

Plenty of dishwasher hacks exist that teach you how to clean a variety of different items using this piece of technology. Those hacks are great, and often are of huge help to families who really don't have much time to scrub things the old-fashioned way.

Personally, though? The best thing I've ever gotten for my dishwasher was a magnet that indicates when the plates inside are cleaned or not. It's one of the smarter cleaning hacks for forgetful folks like me.

Practice mise en place.

If you have ever attended bartending school, chances are that this is one of the bar cleaning hacks that was hammered into you. The practice of mise en place is one of the most common bartending tips heard in bartending schools.

Mise en place is the French term for "put in place," and is a rule that says you need to place everything back where you found it immediately after you finish using it.

This reduces the chance of losing items, reduces the time it takes to clean up after a party, and can also help you keep your home effortlessly organized.

Whether you are a fighter, accident prone, or just a girl on the rag, you know how difficult blood can be to remove from clothing. Believe it or not, there are several pretty impressive cleaning hacks you can use to make your clothing and bedding good as new.

Next time you have blood on your bedsheets, grab a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide and spray the stain. It'll come out immediately.

Create a natural cleaner that repels insects too!

Certain essential oils, such as tea tree oil or mint oil, are delightfully fresh-smelling to humans, but terribly poisonous to bugs. These oils also can be antibacterial in nature. This means that the right mixture can clean your home while also deterring bugs!

If you add half a cup of white vinegar and one and a half cups of water together, you have a cleaning agent that keeps everything clean. If you add 20 drops of mint oil to it, you also have a bug killer that will keep your home pest-free.

This is one of the easiest and awesome cleaning hacks in the book, but it's still used because it works. Baking soda absorbs scents effortlessly, even at cold temperatures. If you have gross food smells, this little hack will help you reduce the amount of odor immensely at a fraction of the time, cost, and effort you would put into bleaching the whole fridge.

Have a 15-minute daily cleaning routine.

A smart person once told me that the reason that cleaning sucked so much out of me was because I procrastinated on it. When you choose to "wait till tomorrow," tomorrow quickly turns into days or weeks later. In that time, problems also tend to pile up.

If you want to keep your cleaning times short, just set aside 15 minutes every morning to clean your home. In that 15 minutes, you'll do enough to not needa weekend-long overhaul every other month!

Love blenders, but hate getting all the hard to reach places? Not a problem. Just add some dish soap and water to the blender's interior, cover the top, and turn it on.

Once you've spun the soap around for a couple of seconds, pour out the water and rinse it with warm water. Repeat if necessary.

Use crumpled newspaper to get a streak-free window.

Ever notice how paper towels always leave streaks? They're pricey, too! A cleaning hack I learned from my homemaker, guru buddy is to use crumpled up newspaper to get a streak-free window.

You can use the same cleaning products you're used to using and wipe them away just the same as you always do, the main difference for this lifehack is that newspaper seems to grab onto residue better than paper towels do.

There's a reason why so many homeowners are majorly into white vinegar—it's the ultimate cleaner! You can splash white vinegar into a glass to remove hard water stains, use vinegar in a recipe to save a burnt pan, and even use it to get rid of odors in clothing.

Vinegar is love. Vinegar is life. Vinegar is Shrek. (Okay, I'll stop making bad meme references now!)

Don't forget to wash your cleaning supplies!

One of the biggest cleaning mistakes you can make is to spend ample time cleaning your room, kitchen, bathroom, and living room with a moldy, gross, sponge. Yet, so many of us do it every single month!

If you want to use all these cleaning hacks right, make sure to use cleaning supplies that are relatively sanitary. Replace your sponges once a month, and clean up your dustpans too!
