When hiring, any candidate tries to present himself more positively, closer to the potential that he could reach if he were hired at the new clinic. The interview takes place as a sales process, in which each of the participants tries to highlight their strengths as well as possible.

Always, in a selection process, the experience of a candidate in the respective field counts, but the attitude prevails, that is why the recruitment focuses on some essential qualities necessary for any job. Do not fail if you recruit specialists with these 4 qualities! Here are the ones:

The initiative or ability to make things happen. Whether we are talking about the medical field or other fields, any employer prefers "action" employees, able to implement plans, to focus on solutions rather than on mistakes or obstacles that may arise during a project.

A key question in an interview, through which you can test the candidate's ability, maybe: and how you reacted to that situation. "

Teamwork - is an essential skill, especially in the medical field. Think, for example, of a complex case in which a patient requires surgery but also suffers from diabetes, is hypertensive, has a history of a brain aneurysm.

All these complications cannot be solved only through the prism of a perfect surgeon, they require collaboration between doctors with different specialties to understand the risks of this intervention and the conditions in which it can be performed.

In most cases, the team is also a motivating factor for an employee, even with poorer performance. In a very good team, that employee will have to get out of the comfort zone and exceed his professional limits.

To test a candidate's team spirit, we can refer to some questions such as: "Give me an example in which it was necessary to treat a patient whose conditions were beyond your sphere of activity" or "When was the last time mentor for a younger colleague and what did you do about it? "

Curiosity - is a universal skill, necessary in any profession, but especially in the medical field. Technological evolution quickly transforms you from a good doctor or nurse into an "obsolete" one, if you do not make an effort to keep up to date with the news related to your field of activity.

Imagine an ENT doctor who is dealing with a case of neurosensory hearing loss and his knowledge is limited only to the hearing aid, when in fact, it is necessary to mount a cochlear implant for that patient.

Curiosity can be tested in an interview in the form of: "What are the reasons why you made the change from one job to another?", "What is the last book read on your specialization and what ideas did you stay with?", " How many conferences in your field do you attend in a year, and what causes you to attend these meetings? "

Empathy - by far the most important quality in medical practice because, no matter how competent a doctor is, as long as he does not know how to "speak" the "patient's language", listen to his fears and understand him, he will not be able to "Draws" a second time to his office. The most sought-after specialists are those who achieve this balance between medical and relationship skills.

In an interview, you can consider nonverbal language in contrast to what the medical specialist says, but also ask them questions such as: "Which was the most difficult patient you interacted with and how did you manage to gain his trust?" ? or "In a discussion, do you prefer to listen or talk and what do you think are the advantages of either option?"

It is really difficult to find the right people in a single interview, but certainly, if we identify the four qualities mentioned above, we know that those candidates have a basis on which to build, that they are adaptable. Do not fail if you recruit specialists with these 4 qualities! To as many successful recruits as possible!
