What Are You If Not a Musician?

People often ask me if I, Thorne Empire, consider myself a musician.

The answer usually surprises them.

No. I'm not a musician.

I have never studied music. When I was younger, I played an instrument for a while, but I wasn't very good at it. I never spent years learning music theory, practicing scales, or dreaming about becoming a performer. Becoming a musician was never my goal.

So what am I?

I'm a storyteller.

Stories have always mattered more to me than most things. Stories about real life; love, loss, regret, redemption, mistakes, forgiveness, and the experiences that shape who we become. Those are the stories that stay with us long after the moment has passed.

Today, I use artificial intelligence to help bring those stories to life.

The closest label I have found for what I do is “EchoScribe”.

An EchoScribe is a modern storyteller who collaborates with AI to create original music. I provide the ideas, emotions, characters, and narratives. AI helps transform those stories into melodies, harmonies, and complete songs. The technology is important, but it's not the source of the story. The story always comes first.

When you listen to my music, you will probably notice something different right away. My songs aren't designed to fight for your attention or chase trends. They're not built around viral hooks or catchy phrases.

They are built around immersion.

I want you to feel like you are living inside the story from beginning to end.

Take "Gone With The Summer." It's a story about a brief summer romance and the regret of words left unsaid. It's about looking back years later and realizing that sometimes the biggest heartbreak isn't rejection; it's never taking the chance at all.

"Don't Bite The Hand That Feeds You" tells a different story. It's about gratitude, respect, and how quickly appreciation can disappear. It's about helping someone through a difficult time only to watch them forget who stood beside them when they needed it most.

Then there's "One Last Dance." That song follows two people at the end of a life spent together. They have built a family, shared decades of memories, and now they are saying goodbye. To me, it isn't a sad story. It's a celebration of a love strong enough to last an entire lifetime.

"Hurt People Hurt People" explores how pain can spread from one person to another. Like a virus, emotional or physical wounds can be passed along if we are not careful. The song asks a difficult question: how do we stop ourselves from becoming the same source of pain that once hurt us?

And "Getting Square" is a redemption story. It's about taking an honest look at your life and asking whether you are living in a way that would make you proud if tomorrow never came. It's about accountability, growth, and earning back your self respect.

Those are only a few examples.

Most songs I create begin with a story that I believe is worth telling. Sometimes it's inspired by something I have experienced. Sometimes it's inspired by someone I have known. Other times it's simply a lesson about life that refuses to leave my mind until I put it into words.

That's why I don't think of myself as a musician.

The music is the vehicle.

The story is the road.

So if someone asks me what I am, I will give them the same answer every time:

I'm not a musician.

I'm an EchoScribe.

I'm a storyteller.

And every song I create is an invitation to step into a story and experience it for yourself.
