Top 20 Bestselling Cars in June 2026
Perodua Bezza Reclaims Number One Spot, Honda City Makes Impressive Leap

The latest vehicle registration data released by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has revealed the sales performance for the month of June 2026, showing shifts in rankings, strong growth from some models, and a notable rebound in the overall market. After briefly losing its lead in May, the Perodua Bezza has bounced back to retake the top position, while the Honda City emerged as the month’s most improved performer, jumping several places up the chart.
National Sedans Battle for Top Honours
Perodua’s popular compact sedan, the Bezza, secured first place with 7,998 units registered in June, marking a strong return to form after being overtaken by the Proton Saga the previous month. This latest figure also contributed to Perodua’s impressive total of 27,517 units sold across its entire range during the month, representing a 12.4% increase compared to May.
In second place is the Proton Saga, which recorded 7,000 units, a drop of nearly 1,000 registrations from its May result. The gap between the two best-selling national models now stands at 998 units, returning the Bezza to its familiar position as Malaysia’s most registered car.
Completing the top three is the Perodua Axia, with 5,970 units registered, maintaining its strong presence as the country’s most affordable and accessible new car.
Looking at the year-to-date (YTD) figures up to the end of June, the order at the top remains unchanged:
Perodua Bezza: 47,463 units
Proton Saga: 44,234 units
Perodua Axia: 36,910 units
This means the Bezza holds a steady lead in the cumulative sales race halfway through 2026.
Mid-Range Performers and Standout Growth
Fourth place went to the Perodua Myvi, with 5,218 units registered in June, bringing its YTD total to 29,112 units, still a favourite among buyers looking for practicality and reliability.
The biggest story of the month, however, belongs to the Honda City. After placing 12th in May, the model surged all the way up to fifth position with 3,880 units registered. This is more than 2.5 times its previous month’s volume, making it the model’s strongest performance so far this year, with a YTD tally now reaching 12,121 units. The sharp increase is likely driven by improved stock availability, attractive financing packages, and strong demand for fuel-efficient sedans.
Just behind the City is the Perodua Alza in sixth place with 3,827 units (19,504 YTD), followed by the Proton S70 in seventh with 2,307 units (12,832 YTD). The Proton X50 holds eighth spot with 2,016 units (13,646 YTD), while Perodua’s SUV lineup continues to perform well: the Perodua Traz climbed to ninth with 1,904 units (10,753 YTD), and the Perodua Ativa rounded out the top 10 with 1,834 units (10,110 YTD). This gives Perodua a dominant presence, holding six of the top 10 positions.
Japanese, New Energy, and Chinese Models
In the second half of the top 20, Japanese brands maintain a consistent showing:
Toyota Vios: 11th, 1,751 units (8,878 YTD)
Toyota Hilux: 12th, 1,741 units (9,979 YTD)
Toyota Yaris Cross: 14th, 1,296 units (2,688 YTD) — deliveries continue to build momentum following its launch
Toyota Alphard: 15th, 1,291 units (8,243 YTD)
Toyota Corolla Cross: 17th, 939 units (5,343 YTD)
Honda Civic: 18th, 907 units (4,884 YTD) — returns to the list after just missing out in May.
Honda HR-V: 19th, 897 units (6,026 YTD)
Proton’s new energy sub-brand e.MAS also made its mark: the e.MAS 5 climbed four places to 13th with 1,309 units, pushing its YTD total past the 10,000 mark to 10,665 units. Meanwhile, the e.MAS 7 appeared only in its plug-in hybrid variant, placing 16th with 1,138 units (4,074 YTD). The fully electric version of the e.MAS 7 dropped out of the top 20 entirely, falling to 25th with 579 units registered.
The only Chinese model to make the cut this month is the Chery Tiggo, which took the 20th and final spot with 821 units (4,604 YTD). The Perodua Aruz, which ranked 19th in May, slipped out of the list this time, recording 701 units and placing 23rd.
Overall Market Performance
The Malaysian new car market saw a healthy recovery in June, with total registrations reaching 72,943 units, an increase of 10.4% compared to May’s figure of 66,053 units. Perodua was the main driver of this growth, while Proton saw a slight decline of 4.3% to 15,450 units, which contributed to the shift in the battle for the top-selling model.
The data shows that demand remains strong for budget-friendly and fuel-efficient vehicles, while newer models and electrified options are gradually gaining traction as more stock arrives and consumer interest grows.
