Through My Honest Lens: Why I Started Writing
An unfiltered beginning—choosing honesty over perfection and sharing life as it truly is.
I’ve always believed that the most powerful stories are not the most perfect but the ones that are raw, unfiltered , unpolished and human.
I have been procastinating. For a long time, I keep delaying myself. Trying to hold back from writing thinking that my words were not good enough. I thought it needs to be polished, flawless and wrapped in an unbelievable ending. But the truth is that, Life does not work like that. Life is messy. It is unpredictable. And most of the time, Life does not always give us our perfect conclusion.
Why I started the Honest Lens?
It is not about pretending that I am an expert or creating an image where I portray myself as perfect. It is about capturing real moments. The ordinary, the quiet, the imperfect ones. The moments that still carry a meaning. A fleeting conversation. The way memories feels after a long day. The unexpected lessons that hides our struggles. The one I never asked for.
Learning to See Differently
As I try to look back, I realize that I live my life too quickly. I wanted to check my goals immediately. I tried to prove myself to everyone. I tried to get to the next stage, and by doing so, I lost all the small details. The way the sun rise in the horizon. The comfort of all the familiar voice. The courage someone give me when they know that I will begin again after a rough day.
Starting this space is my way of slowing down. Of looking through a different lens. The different side of life. The one that does not demand perfection but the one that seeks honesty.
Honesty sometimes feel uncomfortable. It means you are exposing yourself to everyone and admitting that I do not always have all the answers. It means telling about your fears, your doubts, your moments of total weakness. But, what I have learned is that those moments when I am not strong, it connects me to stories I never imagined hearing.
Writing the Unfiltered
We live in a world where so much is being filtered- the photos, the conversations even the emotions. It is easy to fall into the digital trap. Of showing only the highlighted reels and stories. I know because I have done it. I have smiled throught the hard days, posting pictures that emphasized my so called “happiness”. and I keep telling people that I am fine eventhough I am not.
But in here, I want it to be different. I want to write the kind of stories I have always wanted to write. The kind of stories I always longed to read, the honest , the raw tales, not the overly dramatic version. I want the not polished ones, the simple reflections that carry the truth.
Because sometimes it is the simplest sentences that stays with you.
Why I’m sharing this?
I do not know how mang people will read this, and maybe it does not matter. What matters is that I have started. That I have given myself the permission to write without the need to feel perfection as a prerequisite.
If even one person reads these words and feels a sense of recognition. That they have the need to say to themselves “ I have felt that too”. Then this is the space and it has already done what I had hoped it would.
I believe that stories are bridges. They carry us from one place to another or from one heart to another. And if you have found yourself here. reading this, this maybe this is a start of a small bridge between us.
Through My Honest Lens
So this is where I begin: with honesty. With a willingness to write even if it feels vulnerable. With a hope that reality still matters in a world that asks us to put on a mask.
If your are tired of filters, welcome. You will find just the words written as they are, through the lens of what I know.
