Pat Monahan was reminded of his own marriage at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding. The Train frontman, 57, attended the mega-pop star and the NFL player's wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3, with his wife, Amber Monahan. While speaking with The Kansas City Star ahead of his band's Wednesday, Aug. 12, concert at Morton Amphitheater in Riverside, Missouri, Pat said the love he witnessed between Swift and Kelce, both 36, evoked his own nuptials.

"When I met my wife, and we got married, I knew that that was the magic of my life," he shared. "You could tell during that ceremony that they had those same feelings for each other, and that was the best part of the whole thing."

A Night of Glamour and Love

The day after the ceremony, Pat and Amber shared photos and videos of their glamorous wedding attire on Instagram and TikTok. The star-studded celebration had a black-tie dress code. Pat wore a classic black suit while his wife opted for a strapless pink floral-print corset gown with a tiered ruffle skirt.

Amber wrote on Instagram at the time that the wedding was "magical" while Pat called it "an amazing night" on TikTok. Weeks later, for their 19th wedding anniversary, the couple shared another video of them showcasing their guest looks on Instagram and TikTok, setting their posts to The Dixie Cups' "Chapel of Love."

The couple's presence at the wedding was a full-circle moment for Pat, who has been married to Amber since 2005. The pair share two children together, and Pat has often spoken about the grounding influence his wife has had on his life and career.

A Surprising Invitation

The singer-songwriter told The Kansas City Star that he was honored to be invited to the wedding. However, he was also a little surprised because it had been a while since he last spoke with Swift.

The two musicians previously collaborated on the song "Babe," co-writing it for the country duo Sugarland in 2018. Swift later recorded her own version for Red (Taylor's Version) in 2021. The collaboration was a creative highlight for both artists, blending Swift's narrative songwriting with Monahan's melodic sensibility.

"It's one of those friendships that you don't need to be around each other all the time to remember that you have, you know, a meaningful connection," Pat said.

A Star-Studded Celebration

There was an estimated 1,000 guests at Swift and Kelce's wedding, including A-listers Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Emma Stone, and Brad Pitt. The guest list reflected the couple's wide-ranging connections across music, sports, and entertainment, making it one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year.

A source told PEOPLE that the "Love Story" singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end were "beaming" all night during their wedding, which featured a "whimsical" secret garden theme. The venue, Madison Square Garden, was transformed into an enchanted space with lush greenery, twinkling lights, and floral arrangements that created an intimate atmosphere despite the massive scale of the event.

"A huge smile never left either of their faces," the insider said.

A Musical Connection

Pat's connection to Swift goes back more than a decade. In addition to co-writing "Babe," he performed with Swift on her Red Tour in 2013, appearing at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Their friendship has endured through the years, even as their careers have taken them in different directions.

Monahan's presence at the wedding was a testament to the lasting bonds formed through music and collaboration. For the Train frontman, witnessing Swift and Kelce's love story unfold was a reminder of the power of connection both in music and in life.

As Swift and Kelce begin their lives together as a married couple, the memories of their wedding night and the love that filled Madison Square Garden will endure. For Pat Monahan, it was a night to remember, a celebration of love, friendship, and the magic of finding your person.
