The Leonis Awards is a new competition held by members of the Wattpad Community. They are dedicated to standing out among many of the other member run competitions that delude the website. How, you might ask? By offering writers on the website a chance to get genuine feedback no matter if they win the competition. Let's explain the process.
Wattpad is a website full of budding writers. It's free to make an account and start writing, and even to read many member created stories. There are a few paid stories, such as stories you can get from bookstores, but these paid stories are completely optional in the Wattpad Experience.
With Wattpad being one of the biggest writing platforms on the web, it's no surprise that many of the members want to get feedback on their rough drafts and manuscripts as they publish them. While most member run competitions offer bragging rights within their communities, rarely do you see a competition offer proper feedback for all who are selected to participate.
This is where The Leonis Awards enters the scene. The up and starting Wattpad community known as The LionPrideCommunity has set up a competition that focus on feedback more than bragging rights. Each submission that is selected to participate in the competition is given an official, detailed review of their work written by the judges.
These reviews cover everything from the submissions' book covers to character developments. The judges are focused on giving quality feedback to writers who want honesty over anything else. This is why all reviews are anonymously given to the participants as they are eliminated.
"A lot of members would love to see their books published one day," says Host of this year's competition, Chance Chandler. "And we are focused on helping them reach those goals by providing actual feedback on their first five chapters."
The first five chapters are very important to readers. It's where they decide if a book is to their liking or if they would like to move onto another book. This is why the Leonis Awards focuses on the first few chapters of a story to make sure the yare at their best.
The Leonis Awards is an annual competition that has a single, season winner. If you are curious about the competition or any of the community's other competitions throughout the year, please visit their Wattpad profile below for more information.
