Sales and marketing are both incredibly important parts of a business and have been since the beginning of business. Though some businesses have had sales and marketing alignment efforts in place for a while now, others have not—this can be harmful to a business. Investing in these efforts allows a business to grow. Specifically, Marketing Operations is vital to business, as it oversees the entire marketing process of a business from start to finish. The process acts as a guide to executing all phases of a marketing project using a concept called end-to-end.

Marketers have received expanded responsibilities and expectations over the years, which is why Marketing Operations is so vital to the success of a marketing strategy. It meets these new expectations with the key structures it provides and will continue to grow and develop within each company. It gives each company a detailed analysis of past project data and creates the chance for stronger returns and successful marketing campaigns as a result. Additionally, Marketing Operations provides a structured workflow by positioning team members into the right roles for success.

Though the list continues to grow as Marketing Operations develop, it is currently a wide-reaching system that covers various strategies and tasks. Some of the most important ones include customer relationship management (CRM), data analytics, reports and statistics, digital asset management (DAM), call analytics, and content management system (CMS). Without Marketing Operations, structure and order within an organization will break down; it is directly responsible for streamlining workflow and centralizes team members, departments, deadlines, and goals.

Revenue Operations and Marketing Operations are two separate functions, but they communicate as one so that all efforts from both sales and marketing are cohesive and complementary rather than contrasting or duplicative. By aligning these two processes, a synergy is produced between the organizational workflow, which places a clear outline for both marketing and sales to follow. Revenue Operations bring Sales Operations, Marketing Operations, and Customer Service Operations into one cohesive team, allowing all to effectively work together and support one another.
