Black-Owned Jeweler Gina White

Historically, jewelry was meant to indicate social status, familial roots, and significance. Today, people wear jewelry to jazz up an outfit, express individuality, or profess their love and passion. Whatever your reason for rocking some fly accessories, there’s a Black-Owned Jeweler you need to know; She goes by Gina White. Gina became a wholesaler for the jewelry industry. Making her mark with mining her own jewelry, she is one of a kind in her industry.

In the light of closing the wealth gap within the African American community, many are finding ways to thrive and push past the stigmas. The Black Female Jeweler Gina White has taken her business internationally.

Gina White’s shared passion for jewelry has led her to start a journey into sourcing rough diamonds. The mother of two began her career over a year ago, getting involved in the diamond and gold industry. Due to the industry’s lack of black women representation, Gina saw an opportunity to stay in this field and open doors for others. Born in the Bay Area and raised in Houston, Gina always had the determination and wit to succeed. Early on, she lived in different parts of the south before making Houston, Texas, her home and later had two beautiful kids.

Driven by her children, Gina pushed herself to learn and be more involved in a business that helped her grow financially. She quickly realized that this industry would bridge African Diaspora and the world, unifying the two through investments and tourism. When she’s not having a busy day working out, running errands, hosting virtual meetings across the continents, Gina is spending time with her kids. Becoming a mother has been Gina’s most significant accomplishment, and they are the reason for her success. Along with her children, Gina keeps herself around influential and admirable friends that also contribute to her career. As Gina continues to thrive, she hopes to leave a legacy that will bring together Africa and the world.

What is the best business advice you ever received?

Gina White: Move like no one is telling you no.

We just celebrated Mother's Day, Happy Mother's Day! How do you balance being a mompreneur?

Gina White: Being a mother is the epitome of balance. Time management and delegation of tasks are key skills for a mother in business. I never turn down effective help.

What are you looking forward to?

Gina White: I am currently in the process of opening a commodities office in Johannesburg. There I will examine, purchase, cut, polish, design, and set diamonds, gems, and other commodities.

Any obstacles you had to overcome that made you stronger as a businesswoman?

Gina White: My obstacles are very similar to any industry where a young black woman has chosen to dominate. At first glance, I’m not taken seriously and others attempt to marginalize my brand. As each day goes by the narrative changes when others in my industry see that I keep coming back and am here to stay.

What sets your brand apart from others in your industry?

Gina White: What makes my brand different from others in my industry is that I personally source every stone you see in my collection from its rough to a polished state. I travel to the countries I buy from and teach others about my travels along the way.

What else can we be on the lookout for in regards to the business?

Gina White: My site (ginawhite.com) which will be where items from my line can be purchased is launching on May 13th. I am also working with ministries and other socialites in Africa to bring 100 black entrepreneurs to Africa learn from each other how to bridge the economic and social gap.
