The Best Podcasts for Lawyers

Choosing the perfect podcast to dive into.

By David Emory FleetPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

According to one report, there will be over one hundred sixty million podcast listeners by 2023. Naturally, this means there will be a jump in the number of available podcasts. An impressive feat, given the sheer number of podcasts already available.

There are so many podcasts that everyone can find the perfect one for them - regardless of interest or niche. While that fact is incredible, it does make it harder to find the right podcast for you. With that in mind, here is a short list of some of the best podcasts available for lawyers and aspiring lawyers.

Technically Legal

Technically Legal is the perfect podcast for lawyers who adore tech. It merges the tech and law into one comprehensive conversation. Every episode will discuss a different topic or historical figure, helping listeners understand the history of legal tech.

Legally Speaking Podcast

Legally Speaking Podcast is a podcast that updates weekly, full of interviews and more. This podcast is perfect for anyone hoping to hear from legal professionals around the globe. It covers everything from diversity and inclusion to legal tech and current issues.

Lawyerist Podcast

The Lawyerist Podcast is perfect for listeners who want to hear more about lawyering and law practice. It features guest speakers from all over the industry, including experts, authors, and more.

I Am the Law

Next is I Am the Law, a series of twenty-minute episodes focused on lawyers across all fields. This podcast is perfect for anyone that wants a broader understanding of the many different options available within the legal industry.

Law in Action

Law in Action, hosted by Joshua Rozenberg QC, stems from BBC Radio 4’s legal magazine, meaning it has the history to back it up. It covers everything that falls under the legal umbrella, including domestic abuse and the Ukrainian war.

Opening Arguments

As the name suggests, Opening Arguments is the perfect podcast for lawyers. This podcast focuses on headline news from the legal world, including court rulings and international affairs. Every episode is ninety minutes and will be more than enough to keep listeners up to speed.

LawNext

LawNext, hosted by Bob Ambrogi, is another podcast that focuses on the latest news in law. However, this podcast focuses on industry changes driven by technology. It makes for a unique yet informative take on the matter.

Lawyer 2 Lawyer

While we’re on the subject of current events, there’s Lawyer 2 Lawyer, a podcast designed to keep lawyers up to speed on worldwide legal news. This podcast primarily focuses on recent rulings and topics that will affect the legal world.

Legal Toolkit

Legal Toolkit is a monthly podcast focused on law practice management and everything that goes into it. Each episode aims to help better manage services within the legal sector and thus will come with tips on how to do so.

Serial

Serial is arguably one of the most in-depth and unique law podcasts available. The podcast is hosted by Sarah Koening and carries plots and stories from each episode. This is in contrast with most podcasts, which change subjects each episode. Instead, Serial dedicates an entire season to a specific topic, such as the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee, a Baltimore teenager.

Kruse Law Criminal Defence Podcast

Kruse Law Criminal Defence Podcast is an excellent podcast for new or aspiring lawyers. This podcast breaks down the criminal justice system in a way that makes it clear and approachable for all listeners.

Maximum Lawyer

Sometimes lawyers need to do more than understand the law - they must run a business alongside it. That’s where podcasts like Maximum Lawyer come in handy. Maximum Lawyer provides valuable information about the business side of being a lawyer, with helpful tips and tricks throughout.
