Tattooed and employed

I am not everybody's cup of tea and I'm ok with it.

I love referrals and I am still in business because of word of mouth. Couple of weeks ago, I met a new client thanks to one of them and I was excited to actually see this agent (who I've already followed for months) in person. She is all I was expecting and then some until I heard why she changed some of her appearance so that way she might attract more clients... (what?)

I have made peace with the way I portray myself a long ago and, for better or worse, this is what you get:

A professional woman who doesn't rely on her talents. I do trust in my resilience. I work pretty fast due to knowing my equipment to the dot and I can literally shoot with my eyes closed (thanks to my many years of photographing weddings with very low ambiance light). I've been doing this for so long that I can take pictures and edit in my mind at the same time, there is not such a thing as a "difficult" property :) I find a solution to every challenging angle ahead of time. I wear comfortable clothing for my own entertainment and to make sure I can go through uncut landscaping, closed pool areas, get on the roof if necessary, you name it. Some of my clients wonder how I manage to be ALWAYS (I mean, always) on time. My small, affordable, 4 cylinder car does the job. 20 to 30 mins shoot? is that it? Yes. There's no need to waste your valuable time or mine. Last weekend, someone asked me: what my best asset is? (thank you Jose for reminding me where I stand). I get invested in what I do. I work hard. When it comes to providing my customers with photographic services I am a team player. You can count on me.

On the other hand, IF I have to please the majority of the market I should: Be a man. Have the latest photographic gadgets. Drive a nicer car. Wear a more "proper attire". Spend more time on my shoots just to justify my pay, etc.

This is what I understand: not every agent is going to be my client. And I'm ok with it. I don't want every agent. I want every agent who's right for me, who values what I have to offer. I truly believe there's room for all of us without having to compromise ourselves.
