Immersed in a Dream
I am a firm believer that dreams are messages. I woke up from a dream this morning that had utterly shaken me to the core. I had a dream I was drowning inside a video game world. It’s hard to explain, but you know those green warp pipes Mario goes into to go into another world? I was going into one, going to another world in my dream, but it was filled with water. I kept travelling through the pipe for what felt like forever but I was unable to breathe. And then I managed to force myself awake from the dream.

If only people knew St George's backstory
The words that follow may make me feel like I am whistling into a force ten hooley coming off of the English Channel. What I have seen on the news and have been bombarded with on social media feeds lately is coverage of demonstrations outside hotels here in England. These are hotels that are providing accommodation for people who have entered our country through improper channels. Please note that I have not used the words “immigrant” or “immigrants”. I find both of them totally dehumanising and capable of obliterating any respect for the individuals concerned let alone taking any account of their individual back stories. As for the use of "illegal" that is an issue to be decided through the due process of law.

The Warrior’s Affliction: Confronting Military-Related Suicide If you’re watching a war movie and cringe at the scripted shout of “Half right! Face!” or subconsciously rub the scars on the backs of your ankles after removing your socks - you know military life. If, on command, you can sense the bitter smell of black powder wafting in your face after a round fired, or constantly tolerate the ringing in your ears, you know what it’s like to be in the fight. You know what it’s like to be days out from your last shower, battered and injured, and unable to remember the last time you slept or put any hot food into your system. When finally finding a minute or two to sit during the brief “pauses” between the moments of high-octane and demanding action, you know what’s it like to daydream about home - and to count the days upon which you will return, and finally be away from that goddamned fight. Yet, many transition from military to civilian life to the dismaying realization that, within themselves, they are still in the fight. That they will always be in the fight. Upon finally coming home to that gravy train in which they had so longed for, they learn that the fight never ends, and some hurts never heal. Home is “different”. Loved ones that they used to know so well say that they are “different”. They visit the same places, and see the same faces, but nothing feels right. Everything is just “different”. Tragically, among active duty and veterans across all branches, sometimes they feel that there is only one means to an end. Maybe they feel useless. Maybe they feel trapped. Maybe they feel ashamed, or guilty of what they’ve become. Or maybe they’re just tired – to the bone and to the soul. They become a statistic in one of the worst data trends and research studies in the nation: suicide.

Hello everyone. I know it's been awhile since my last video game article. Life...has not been kind to some people. People that matter to me. People that deserve to not be shoved aside. Honestly, I haven't been able to write like I would like to. I keep close to my Nintendo Switch and my laptop like my life depends on it. I keep notes as I play through games. Sometimes, I write as I am playing the game itself. Dictation is a great tool when your hands are busy. I remember using Dragon, a dictation tool that was really expensive, but I used it to speak my thoughts and write many college papers. Now, Microsoft Word has a dictation tool built-in, so that makes it easy for travel and playing games on the go.
