Ganduyan & Golinsan are blessed with lakes & rivers, pools & ponds - it’s a surprise many “young once” from these places admit they cannot swim. Some claim they were good boys & girls, always home to help with chores, while bums like me wandered away, to hills & rivers. Be that as it may, my shame to say, many a whipping I have gotten, for gallivanting when chores were given. But joy of swimming, berry picking ... were worth the whipping, so no regretting, hehe. Besides, "planting rice is never fun, bent from morn till the set of sun".

Mrs. D
Long ago in school one day, teacher sent us on our way. Run home you all, before the raindrops fall. Boys being boys, some disobey... come what may... we stayed to play. Here poured the rain... here came Mrs D, angry as can be. "I sent you early not to play; go home quick or you'll get sick!!" Sure enough I caught the flu, and to hospital I go; was so dejected when admitted.

The Epicurean possessed the title of best restaurant in the tri-state area. People would try for weeks before acquiring a reservation in the main dining room. Snagging a coveted table in a private room took influence and a great deal of cash. It didn’t matter whether someone was looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, reservations were a necessity. Jacque, the establishment’s owner, ran his business with discipline, plus a great deal of empathy for his employees. He recalled working in a burger joint as a teenager for minimum wage. Now that he was a successful owner, Jacque would tolerate no one mistreating his staff.
