Sustaining Woodworking Profits

The secrets revealed!

By GLZWoodworkingPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

You don't have to be an experienced woodworker to start a home-based woodworking business or set up an overly large Woodshop in your backyard with a significant amount of specialised tools and machinery.

The trick to transforming your passion for woodworking into a profitable home-based woodworking business is more about following a few simple steps for long-term success and I'll expand on this shortly.

In the beginning, your home woodworking business will offer you with a good part-time income while allowing you to spend more time with your family and that’s a great attraction for a lot of people.

The second phase is where you’ll be able to do it full-time and to be overjoyed with just how successful your venture has turned out to be but for this to happen, it takes a bit of work and I’m not just talking about woodwork.

Many home woodworking enterprises have struggled in recent years and sadly, quite a few of them have found it difficult to continue.

Even now, as we enter the holiday season, it saddens me to think about home-based woodworkers out there fighting to make ends meet.

I'm not trying to scare folks away from starting up a home-based woodworking business, I merely want people to go into this new era of their lives with all of the information they’ll need.

The various steps to home based woodwork business success are there on the 'money' page of my website for people to learn from should they decide to have a look.

Basically, you’ve got to do your research on what it takes to succeed before investing too much time and money into your ideas.

It's a tough world out there!

There’s plenty of competition around, wood products are on average a bit cheaper than normal lately and base material costs are at an all time high, so every penny you spend on overhead costs needs to be 100% essential.

You can minimize the risk of putting your investment at danger and incurring losses if you do your research as well as seeking advice on what to make, where your audience is and who is your audience.

There’s no point making fantastic looking wood products that nobody knows about. wants or needs.

You may be able to work all this out yourself but don’t feel bad if you can’t, many people will end up engaging outside help to develop your ‘wood business’ & marketing tactics.

You need to identify which potential products best meet your equation and if sold soon after you make them, will be likely generate a consistent flow of cash for you.

So please spend a significant amount of time deciding upon the most profitable wood products for you to make & sell without spending too much money up front.

Develop a 'Top Ten' list of wood products/projects that you really love the idea of making and will also use relatively inexpensive materials and tooling.

Your initial business plan will capture just how your ‘Top Ten’ list will provide the best return on your time and money commitment.

Also, the things you like most about your ‘Top Ten’ products will be very useful when doing your keyword research for the best words to use when advertising these items.

If you can make these 10 things over and over at high quality, you'll ensure your customers return.

Always be on the lookout for recommendations on where to get tools and equipment at cheap prices, especially for the tools and equipment that's typically on the high end costs wise.

Gradually expand the range of products your woodworking business produces, develop some fantastic sales strategies, build a strong internet presence and enjoy the success that should follow.

When it becomes clear that you've done it, that you've turned your business into a profitable endeavour, be sure to celebrate your accomplishment.

It is beneficial to reinforce the drive that got you to this point, as it’s that same drive that will bring you to the next level of achievement you’ll need to set for yourself.
