Agriculture, as we all know, is the most crucial sector in the Indian economy as it contributes 1/5 to the GDP and approx 65 per cent of the population indulge in it. The agriculture sector has many issues like expensive machines, pesticides, electricity, etc. Many solutions are available for expensive machinery such as Swaraj 717 tractor, a budget-friendly engine, but what about expensive electricity?.today we will discuss the solar irrigation system. We will see how it can help in saving electricity, energy and power. The term irrigation means to give water to crops. In India, climate variation and lack of water is a significant problem. As we know, the water supply to produce is a must in agriculture, so there is a need for proper irrigation systems, and solar power irrigation can be the answer. It not only saves electricity power but also saves time and energy. It is an economical way to do irrigation as there is no need for expensive electricity. It is a beneficial method, especially in countries like India, where there is much sunlight because of hot temperatures. Today, we will discuss every aspect related to the solar power irrigation system.

HOW SOLAR POWER IRRIGATION WORKS?

Solar power irrigation, as discussed above, is in the future in agriculture. Solar power, as the name suggests, uses solar energy, i.e. sunlight, for functioning.Controlling the pump system manually can be time and energy-consuming. It can be controlled by electricity, but lack of electricity is a significant problem worldwide, and electricity can be expensive too for farmers. Solar energy is the solution to these concerns. Solar-powered auto irrigation systems work in the sunlight. When the sun shines on the water, the pumping process is a sensible way of solar energy use throughout the summer, as the water needs are the highest. The water pump which is used will provide a reliable water source for plantations. For any solar-based water pumping system, the ability to drive water is a function of three variables: pressure, power, and pressure. These three essential components are used in this solar-powered auto irrigation system.

CHALLENGES FOR SOLAR POWER IRRIGATION SYSTEM

If we talk about challenges for agriculture, we will see lots of difficulties such as expensive fertilizers and equipment. Still, these problems have many solutions, like some affordable and effective tractor machines available in the market, such as Sonalika 60. Now we will discuss the significant challenges for solar power irrigation systems. Irrigation is the most effective means for boosting agricultural production, but powering the withdrawal of groundwater can be expensive. Solar panels give a cleaner energy source for pumping groundwater than traditional diesel-based pumps. Their cost has rapidly fallen in recent years—exciting policymakers in South Asia about their promise as a viable and sustainable tool for rural development.

Solar pumps have a very high capital cost that most farmers cannot afford. However, solar panels provide energy for free so that over a pump’s life-cycle, power from a solar pump works out to be cheaper than that from a diesel pump. To address this barrier to entry, governments in South Asia are offering high capital subsidies on solar pumps. Small farmers should obtain additional solar panels at a subsidized cost for upgrades to higher capacity pumps if the water table drops.

SUGGESTIONS

The latest technologies should be used to improve grid integration and consumption. This should support only those state governments willing to incorporate adequate surveillance and control mechanisms to curb groundwater extraction. Stringent regulatory requirements to guarantee effective operations like frequent reporting on installations, operations, evacuation, invoicing and payment to farmers. There should be a focus on state-level convergence of allied policies on a single online window with access to farmers and suppliers. Integrating SWPs with drip irrigation and sprinklers should be promoted to save water and electricity and ensure improved crop yield per additional drop of water. Farmers should be trained to utilize contemporary farming technology better. Developing trust among farmers by demonstrating SWP operating facilities is essential. Those failing to adhere to the timeframe should be penalized. Farm power tariffs and time constraints on electricity supply should be progressively increased to promote the solarisation of agricultural feeders.

CONCLUSION

As per the above facts, we can conclude that solar power irrigation systems can be beneficial, especially in India, where sunlight is not rare, and lack of electricity is a significant problem. Lots of difficulties are there for its implementation, but goal-oriented policies and proper planning can help achieve goals that will save energy, time and money.
