Sandra Bullock Returns to the Red Carpet for Practical Magic 2 Premiere: "I'm So Happy and I Feel Like a Kid"
The actress's first major public appearance since the death of partner Bryan Randall marks an emotional milestone in her healing journey.

Sandra Bullock is back on the red carpet. Bullock, 62, stepped out in London for the world premiere of her new movie Practical Magic 2 alongside her co-stars Nicole Kidman, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Stockard Channing, and director Susanne Bier on Wednesday, August 26.
Bullock wore a glam cheetah-print Givenchy dress paired with black heels and layered gold necklaces. She and Kidman, 59, posed holding hands on the red carpet as they debuted a sequel to their 1998 movie nearly 30 years later.
A Long-Awaited Return
The Academy Award winner's starring turn in Practical Magic 2 comes 28 years after the release of the original movie, in which she and Kidman portrayed sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, witches in Massachusetts who must once again confront a family curse that kills every man they fall in love with. The films are based on author Alice Hoffman's book series of the same name.
Prior to Practical Magic 2, Bullock last appeared on the big screen in the 2022 movies The Lost City and Bullet Train. She has only made a handful of movies in the last decade, including two 2018 films, Ocean's Eight and Bird Box, as well as 2021's The Unforgivable.
A Personal Milestone
Bullock's appearance at the premiere marks an emotional milestone. It is the first time she has stepped onto a red carpet since the death of her longtime partner Bryan Randall, who passed away in August 2023 at age 57 following a private three-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
During an August 17 appearance on Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman, and Will Arnett's SmartLess podcast, Bullock opened up about her grief and the process of healing. "Other things can frustrate me, things can upset me, I get pissed off, I get petty, but there's a time I'm so happy, and I feel like I'm a kid for the first time in my life as I'm seeing things that I've seen a million times before," she said on SmartLess.
A Journey of Healing
Bullock continued, "But now I see them with such a love that I didn't have before. It's just yes, I have a great therapist. Yes, I think I did the right thing with the kids. Yes, I did usher out Brian the way a human being deserves to be ushered out. I didn't take care of myself then, but I do take care of myself now."
Her words reflect a profound transformation. The loss of Randall was a devastating blow, but Bullock has emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for life. Her decision to return to acting and to step back into the public eye is a testament to her resilience.
The Magic of Practical Magic 2
The sequel to Practical Magic has been highly anticipated by fans of the original film. The story picks up with the Owens sisters navigating new challenges while confronting the family curse that has haunted them for generations. The film's themes of love, loss, and sisterhood resonate deeply with Bullock's own life experiences, adding an extra layer of meaning to her performance.
Bullock and Kidman's chemistry remains as strong as ever, and the film's ensemble cast, including Joey King, Maisie Williams, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing, promises to deliver a magical and emotional experience for audiences.
A Busy Schedule Ahead
Bullock's return to the spotlight doesn't end with Practical Magic 2. She will next star opposite Keanu Reeves in an untitled romantic thriller, reuniting the pair after their movies Speed and The Lake House, per The Hollywood Reporter. The project has generated significant buzz, and fans are eager to see the duo back on screen together.
A Celebration of Life and Love
As Bullock continues to navigate life after loss, her appearance at the Practical Magic 2 premiere is a celebration of her resilience and her ability to find joy again. Her red carpet moment is a reminder that even in the face of profound grief, it is possible to heal and to embrace new beginnings.
Practical Magic 2 is in theaters September 10. For Bullock, the film represents more than just a return to acting it is a testament to the power of love, the strength of sisterhood, and the magic of moving forward.
