The Samsung Galaxy M14 5G is not your usual successor to the Galaxy M13 5G. In fact, after having used the phone, and still using it by the way, the Galaxy M14 5G is a pretty solid sub-Rs 15,000 smartphone, which proves Samsung can also make noteworthy budget devices. You see, the Galaxy M13 5G was also launched around the same price point as the Galaxy M14 5G. However, when it came to the specs and features, especially in comparison to its competitors, the Galaxy M13 5G felt underwhelming. That said, with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy M14 5G, the company is back in the game as it aims to storm the sub-Rs 15,000 price category with its latest offering.

If you are someone who has been waiting to get a new smartphone, with a budget of under Rs 15,000, you may want to consider the Samsung Galaxy M14 5G. In fact, even if you are looking to upgrade from the Galaxy M13 5G, here are 5 reasons why you can consider the latest Galaxy M14 5G.

1. Higher resolution display with better protection

While the Samsung Galaxy M13 5G was a great value proposition, as a company like Samsung gave the customers a choice of a budget 5G phone. The problem with the Galaxy M13 5G was that the company did a lot of cost-cutting on other aspects of the phone apart from 5G. One of them was the phone’s display. It was a 90Hz IPS LCD panel but with only HD+ resolution.

However, with the Samsung Galaxy M14 5G, the company once again provides a 90Hz IPS LCD panel but with a full-HD+ resolution. This way, not only is the display of the Galaxy M14 5G noticeably sharper than the Galaxy M13 5G’s display, but also provides a much better viewing experience. On top of that, the Gorilla Glass 3 protection from the M13 5G has been upgraded to Gorilla Glass 5 on the Galaxy M14 5G. Of course, better protection against drops and scratches.

2. 5nm chip paired with massive 6,000mAh battery

The Samsung Galaxy M14 5G is powered by the latest 5nm Exynos 1330 chip, coupled with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. In comparison, the Galaxy M13 5G was powered by the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. So, for general tasks, of course, the Dimensity 700 chip is pretty apt. On the other hand, the 5,000mAh battery under the hood promised as well as delivered solid endurance on the Galaxy M13 5G, but it still wasn’t the best.

However, with the latest 5nm Exynos 1330 inside the Samsung Galaxy M14 5G, not only does the chip architecture promise better battery efficiency. But come to think of it, the Galaxy M14 5G has a massive 6,000mAh battery, which basically means, this smartphone won’t be giving you any sort of battery charging anxiety. I have been using the phone for quite a bit, and even after 2 days of heavy usage, the Galaxy M14 5G still has a decent amount of battery left in the tank. That said, I really wish Samsung could’ve gone for even faster charging than the supported 25W speeds, because, charging the Galaxy M14 5G takes a lot of time.

3. Latest software with future-proofing

While the Samsung Galaxy M13 5G has recently been updated to OneUI Core 5.1 atop Android 13 software, the latest Galaxy M14 5G already ships with the latest software. On top of this, Samsung is also promising a further 2 years of Android OS upgrades along with 4 years of security patch updates for the Galaxy M14 5G. This means, if you are paying around the same sort of money, which is around Rs 14,000 - Rs 15,000 on a phone, it now makes all the way more sense to get the Galaxy M14 5G, as the device is better covered and future-proof. However, in regard to the device’s software performance, I’m still in the process of testing the Galaxy M14 5G. So, I’ll reserve the final judgement for later.

4. Upgraded camera

The Samsung Galaxy M14 5G boasts a triple-rear camera system comprising a 50MP primary camera paired with a couple of 2MP depth and macro shooters. Now, in comparison to the Galaxy M13 5G, the latest Galaxy M14 5G has an additional 2MP macro camera. However, how good these 2MP cameras turn out to be is a totally different debate.

That said, on the positive side of things, one can expect to see decent camera performance from the Galaxy M14 5G’s 50MP primary rear camera. Additionally, if you are someone who likes to take a lot of selfies, you’d definitely appreciate the upgraded 13MP front camera on the Galaxy M14 5G versus the 5MP front snapper found on the Galaxy M13 5G. Personally, I have clicked a few photos from the Galaxy M14’s front camera, and looking at the initial results, I can say that the quality of photos is definitely better than what the Galaxy M13’s camera produces.

5. Pricing is pretty good

The Samsung Galaxy M14 5G has been aggressively priced in India. The 4GB + 64GB storage variant costs Rs 14,990, while the 6GB + 128GB storage variant costs Rs 16,490. Now, on paper, both the 4GB and 6GB RAM variants of the Galaxy M14 5G cost about Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,00 more respectively than the launch prices of the Galaxy M13 5G. However, when you club in the bank offer which gives an instant discount of Rs 1,500, the prices of the Galaxy M14 5G automatically go down to Rs 13,490 and Rs 14,990 for the 4GB and 6GB RAM variants respectively. And this kind of pricing for the kind of specs and features on offer, that too for a phone from a brand like Samsung — I think this is a pretty sweet deal.
