Office Life in 2021

Remote Workers

After almost a year of remote workers, employers are increasingly finding ways to get their workforce back into the office. With a promising vaccine already released, this was indeed to be expected.

While employees have become accustomed to a new way of working, employers might need more face time as they regroup and hope to kick-start their enterprises.

The go-between becomes the much talked out hybrid workplace. One thing is certain: it's going to be business unusual for a while to come.

What should you expect? Here is a screenshot of office life in 2021.

Focus on Hygiene

Employers will make more effort on office cleaning in a bid to keep employees safe. Common areas, as much as converging will be restricted, will need more attention especially.

Companies will clamour for commercial cleaning services in Toronto. This is not only to comply with Covid-19 protocols but also to reassure employees of their commitment to their safety. This will be a positive move geared towards ensuring productivity and employee retention.

Reviving Company Cultures

Collaborative and team-first work cultures have taken a beating in the wake of remote working.

As futuristic and supportive as conferencing apps have been, they have been unable to foster this culture.

Organizations will be looking to cultivate this once more and to create a space for their staff to have more personal collaboration and internal networking options moving forward.

More Hybrid Workplace Features

More and more businesses are preparing to have a hybrid workplace, at least for the initial months of 2021.

This is where there will be employees working from home and others returning to the office. The nature and industry a business operates in will determine what percentage works from where and which specific roles will be in-house.

A hybrid workforce can also have employees work in the office on certain days of the week, with the remainder being flagged for remote working.

Whichever the case, there will be more collaborative working and more intentional work calendars for organizational goals to be achieved.

Part-time or flexi-time are also expected to make a comeback.

Social Office Bubbles

With employees probably craving workplace camaraderie, designers and architects predict a bit of a shift in office designs.

There will be more group seating designs with specific teams being at the office on similar days for team projects. Also, expect modular furniture for both group and individual seating.

Spacing will also be a major concern as it will not only serve for social distancing but also to allow productive conversations to go on simultaneously but not disruptively.

Ultimately…

Employers will strive to keep employees safe while keeping up with regulations and working towards organizational goals.

Numerous changes abound, and the will to adapt will determine how well organizations move forward.
