Who is Obi Cubana, and where did he come from?

You may inquire about those who are unfamiliar with him.

Here are a few things you probably didn't know about Obi Cubana.

He was born on April 12, 1975, with the full name Obinna Iyiegbu. Cubana Group's Chief Executive Officer is the businessman. His nightclub and opulent hotels are among his most well-known ventures.

With his Place of Primary Assignment at the National Assembly in Abuja during his National Youth Service Corps days, the political science graduate from the University of Nsukka made his first million. He was introduced to the real estate sector in Abuja, when he met a client who needed furniture for a house. Obi was given N500,000 because he earned over N600,000 from the task. In an interview, he added, "That was the first N1.1m I made before I entered contract job in Abuja."

His foray into the business sector began in Abuja in 2006, when he opened Ibiza, his first nightclub. Later, in Owerri, Imo State, he opened another club, Cubana. His economic empire flourished from there.

He won the Man of the Year award in October, beating out Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr Tony Elumelu, Chairman of the UBA Group, and Mr Abdul Rabiu, Chairman and Founder of the BUA Group.

In a 14-day Leadership Excellence Awards, Nigerians from home and abroad voted for the businessman via online channels. Makinde, Elumelu, and Rabiu received 1,015,224, 848,652, and 819,562 votes, respectively, while the Cubana Group boss received 2,667,845 votes.

Obi Cubana has long implied that he is a religious guy, referring to himself as "God's favored son" in various interviews. He married his lawyer wife, Ebele Iyiegbu, in 2008. Their union has resulted in the birth of four sons.

Following his release from EFCC prison, a video of Nigerian millionaire businessman Obi Cubana hanging out with his friends has surfaced.

After three nights of interrogation, the Socialite was ultimately released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday night.

Obi Cubana is seen snapping a picture with several military troops in a photo that has gone popular on social media.

Some of his supporters assumed the shot was taken while he was being held by the EFCC.

He was photographed hanging out with his friends, including millionaire businessman Ayiri Emami, in a video uploaded on social media.

Take a look at the video below.

Remember that the anti-graft agency arrested Obi, the head of Cubana groups, on Monday afternoon, November 1st, for alleged money laundering and tax fraud.

He had been detained and interrogated since Monday afternoon, when he accepted an invitation from the anti-graft agency, but the details of his alleged crimes had not been made public as of his admission to administrative bail.

It was unclear what the businessman did in the end to fulfill the terms of his release.

However, there are indications that the businessman may be asked to appear in court in the future to defend himself against charges of currency misuse, tax fraud, and money laundering based on verified business transactions, according to a top source. The EFCC had invited the businessman to its headquarters on Monday to answer certain questions about tax fraud and money laundering, but declined to provide specifics, ostensibly to prevent harming the investigation.

Obi Cubana made headlines earlier this year after staging a grandiose burial for his late mother with the help of his fans.

It's unclear whether Cubana's suffering with the anti-graft agency is due to the manner local and hard currencies were sprayed during his mother's funeral or if there are other issues related to his questioning by the anti-graft agency's operatives.
