Duties as a marketing specialist

Regarding the duties of a marketing specialist, there are many tasks that a person in this field has to do.

A marketer needs to create advertising campaigns, keep the community engaged, increase the visibility of a business and thus increase its sales.

It is difficult to define a clear list of tasks, given that, depending on the case, they are very varied.

Here are some responsibilities of the marketing specialist in general:

  • marketing strategy;
  • setting up and creating marketing campaigns;
  • writing marketing materials;
  • coordination of content writers and copywriters team;
  • measuring, analyzing, and reporting the results of marketing campaigns;
  • finding opportunities for promotion, advertising, and cross-posting.

The training needed to become a marketing specialist

To become a marketing specialist, of course, you can attend an accredited and approved faculty in the field.

However, that is not all, you have to learn all the time, and this is what you do best in the workplace. D

Also, many marketing specialists have obtained accreditation after graduating from online courses.

After graduating from a college in the field, whether we are talking about a bachelor's or master's degree, there are certain certifications and qualifications that you can acquire later. They will help you specialize much better on a certain profile, even in terms of marketing. The important thing is, as I said, to like what you do and to be good.

Therefore, if you want to become a marketing specialist, but do not have a university degree in marketing or communication, you can access the necessary information through several options:

  • go on an internship at a marketing firm, or marketing agency to learn practically
  • you become a volunteer in a program, NGO, or company that needs a junior marketing specialist
  • you take paid courses online or in the classroom, you learn from free resources;
  • you become a freelancer and learn marketing from a Romanian or international company.

What you are not told when you want to become a marketing specialist

Marketing is an effervescent field, even in a permanent change.

In other words, what you knew yesterday is good, tomorrow may be exactly what you need to beware of.

You need to be constantly up to date with current trends, track statistics, analyze results and, more than that, constantly learn and reinvent yourself.

What you are not told is that every customer is different.

What a customer wants from their marketer is not necessarily similar to what someone else wants. Therefore, it is good to tell them from the beginning what you can do for them, how you can help them, what you cannot do, what you guarantee and what you cannot.

It is important to set boundaries from the beginning. This way you will set the expectations of your clients, colleagues, collaborators, and superiors, and no one will be disappointed or demotivated.

The challenges of a marketing specialist

One of the main challenges of a marketer is that you need to constantly adapt to the changes that are taking place in the online environment.

Another challenge is the fact that you have to meet the deadlines and deliver the product on time, even if you don't have a good day and, of course, no desire to take care of the given task.

Another challenge is that you will have to constantly reinvent yourself to keep up with the times, and this can mean taking classes constantly. Even if the company you work for does not offer you training courses, you will have to take care of yourself and invest your funds in your development.

If you are a freelance marketing specialist you will have to work with several clients and companies, and this will require a lot of communication skills, organization, and flexibility. You will have to adapt to the requirements, desires, and dreams of each entrepreneur.

The conclusion is that a marketing specialist has a lot of responsibilities, depending on the company in which he works and its objectives.

To get into such a profession, you do not necessarily need studies in the field, but passion, to be attracted to this field and, of course, experience is very important and what you know how to do.
