We have to support eachother more than ever as we continue to uplift and fight for the betterment of all black lives. Congrats to Kenyetta on all of her success so far. We here at Vocal wishes her an amazing continued journey as a BOSS. Please enjoy our interview!

Tammy Reese:

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Kenyetta Miller:

My children, at one point in my life I was working 60 plus hours a week. I felt like I took so much away from them. Then I joined the military, and honestly it gave me more stability and time with my children. However it's not enough, and I'm yearning to give them more of my time. So becoming my own boss and sharing what I love with others was a no brainer. That's how the mental thought of FaceCARD Glasses LLC was formed.

Tammy Reese:

What do you love about the work you do?

Kenyetta Miller:

Making people look good and sharing my love for sunglasses. I get so excited when I see my customers post pictures and tag me on social media.

Tammy Reese:

What are some hardships in your line of business?

Kenyetta Miller:

Balance, I am currently juggling two other jobs. So I am a mom, entrepreneur, solider, and bank operations specialist. I wear so many hats. Plus I have to find time for rest and self-care.

Tammy Reese:

What is your stance on the Black Lives Matter Movement?

Kenyetta Miller:

As women of color, we see so much. I think it’s harder for women growing up in our society. Especially with what our men have to go through and to feel as if we are only bystanders sometimes. “We have two negatives” as my grandmother would say. One being black and the other being a woman. However black women are pushing through, and are making things happen. Overall I am in love with the movement, we as a people are becoming more of a community. I have never seen so many black owned businesses readily available. Every week I try to put my money back into the community by shopping with owned businesses . As of right now, I feel as if we are getting back to a state of empowering our people. We are thriving as a people and getting support from our nonblack counterparts.

Tammy Reese:

How has the pandemic changed the work you do?

Kenyetta Miller:

I actually opened FaceCARD Sunglasses during the beginning of the pandemic. The pandemic has allowed me to think outside of the box. Lack of travel delayed some business ventures. However it has taught me to prepare for the worse. I have also learned how to better manage, and becoming more creative with social media. The pandemic is a test and I feel like im passing it.

Tammy Reese:

What's next for you?

Kenyetta Miller:

Creating residual income! I recently read a book called "Are You Ready For Yes" by Audria Richmond. The book talks about putting yourself in a position to win. So I'm planning on becoming a wholesale supplier. Becoming a wholesale supplier is a very untouched market, especially a state side distributor. Being a black owned business it's essential that we have someone, somewhat local to provide products. It prevents products delays, running out of inventory, and it affects our consumer relations. So summer 2022 prepare for FaceCard Wholesale LLC.

Tammy Reese:

What are you currently working on?

Kenyetta Miller:

I'm currently working on putting together a women's entrepreneurial meet and greet. It will be called FaceCARD Glasses LLC Presents “Hey Girl, Let’s Talk” There will be 5 showcased vendors. These vendors will supply black owned products that particularly pertain to women. I want this event to being empowering and a learning event for women. It’s going to be great so make sure you’re watching our social media for all the action.

Tammy Reese:

What's some advice for anyone who wants to join your field?

Kenyetta Miller:

-Write it down, and continue to write it down. Dreams start with thoughts, but writing them down is the closest thing you have to writing it in stone.

-Expect the unexpected

-Find Balance! When you feel overwhelmed, go back to what gives you solidarity.

-Do You! You are responsible for you success!
