Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones: Friendship, Fun, and a Very Unexpected Answer

A Game of "Would You Rather?" That Revealed Their Different Perspectives Shared Ground and a Growing Bond Co‑Hosts Who Lift Each Other Up

Since launching Today with Jenna & Sheinelle back in January 2026, Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones have built a partnership that feels less like a television show and more like two close friends chatting with the world. Their easy rapport, shared experiences, and genuine warmth have made them a favourite with viewers and on Tuesday, October 6, they proved just how delightfully different they can be while playing a lighthearted game of Would You Rather…? that took them both by surprise.

The Question That Stumped Them

The prompt was playful but posed a tricky choice: “Would you rather send a sexy photo to your boss or your mom?” At the count of three, they turned to reveal their answers and immediately realised they were not on the same page. Jenna, 44, confidently answered: “Our boss.” Sheinelle, 48, said with equal certainty: “My mom.”

The confusion was instant and good‑natured. “Well, Talia is our boss!” Jenna explained, referring to their show’s executive producer, Talia Parkinson‑Jones. “Talia would be like, ‘Fly outfit!’” Sheinelle laughed and conceded, “Wait, you know what? You’re right!” She admitted she had been thinking of a different boss entirely, Cesar Conde, Chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group, and had interpreted the question very differently. “It said, boss,” she joked. “Well, then we need to rephrase the question.”

Once they aligned on who “the boss” meant, the tone turned even lighter. “Talia, you can see whatever you like,” Sheinelle declared. Jenna agreed, imagining the response: “She’d be like, ‘Dang! Looking good! Keep up the workouts.’” Sheinelle added with a grin, “Talia would be like, ‘Lower it just a little.’” The moment was pure fun spontaneous, relatable, and full of the easy banter that makes their partnership shine.

A Bond Built on Shared Ground

This quick‑witted exchange is just one example of the chemistry that has made their show work so well. When they first came together as co‑hosts, Jenna told PEOPLE that they discovered they had far more in common than they might have expected. “Sheinelle also grew up partly in Kansas. I grew up in Texas. Our shared frame of reference is so similar; our kids are similar ages,” she said. “She was in this beautiful marriage. So, we have all of these things that are in common, and this shared perspective.”

They even found themselves laughing about small, memorable details from their childhoods including how both their mothers took them to Dillard’s to buy beige bras. “You too?” became a running joke and a sweet reminder of how much they understood one another. “So it’s one of those things where I think we have enough differences, but also enough things in common, that it just works,” Jenna explained. “And we look at each other, and we’re safe. If I fall, she’s going to pick me up and vice versa.”

More Than Co‑Hosts Partners and Friends

That sense of safety and support is what defines their partnership. They bond over parenting, pop culture, and the real challenges and joys of life. They learn from each other, grow alongside each other, and bring out the best in one another, whether discussing serious news, celebrating a happy moment, or laughing over a silly hypothetical. The game of Would You Rather…? was light entertainment, but it also revealed something deeper: two women who respect each other, enjoy each other’s company, and bring distinct perspectives to everything they do.

Whether they agree or as on this occasion, answer in completely opposite ways, they do it with warmth, humour, and mutual respect. That is the secret to their success: they are not just co‑hosts; they are friends who show up for each other every morning.
