It doesn't matter how much writing experience you have, you can always improve. The Internet has a lot of free and paid tools you can use. They can help you write in multiple languages simultaneously, write short, compelling emails, stay focused during your writing sessions, analyze your headlines, monetize your writing, eliminate writer’s block, and track your word count. But which ones are the most effective?I'll discuss them here.

Fluently

This is a great tool for people who wan to write ebooks in other languages. It has a built-in thesaurus and a multilingual translator, in addition to a distraction-free text editor. You can use it to create a document in a foreign language while you write in your native language.

The translator works along with the editor, so you'll see the result immediately. It also syncs with the LanguageTool grammar checker, which includes 42 languages.

Flowrite

This AI-driven tool creates ready-to-send emails, messages, and posts from short bullet points. It provides a completely different writing experience — instruct with a few words, click, and watch the text write itself.

It works where you work and adjusts to your regular tasks and unique preferences. The system is designed for the most productive people and is powered by the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. It’s most suitable for those working in a field that requires effective communication. Go to their website and enter your email address to request access.

Ulysses

This one is perfect for Mac or Apple users who do long-form writing. It has many features, but still allows the writer to minimize the number of unnecessary features.

Its best features include a library for arranging your work, search filters to find text quickly, and a goal tracker for staying on track. It also has a non-distracting typewriter mode, bookmarks, and outline features.

Coschedule’s Headline Analyzer

Your headline should grab the reader's attention since it's the first thing they read. The coolest thing about the Headline Analyzer is you don't need a Coschedule account to use it. You can create a free Headline Studio account and analyze a few headlines for free, or upgrade for a fee.

Cold Turkey

Many writers struggle with distractions. Playing video games or checking Facebook is more appealing to most of us than writing. Using Cold Turkey's software, you can block distracting websites and apps so you can focus on what matters.

Ghost

You might have considered Patreon, Substack, or Gumroad if you want to monetize your writing. There is an alternative to that called Ghost. This nonprofit organization develops open-source journalism technology. Your writing can become a business, and much more.

It's a useful tool for first-time bloggers, and for content creators who want to make money from newsletters and memberships.

Noisli

Some people focus better with background noise. If this is true for you, check out Noisli. You can choose from different soundtracks, like nature or city-themed sounds like thunder, waves, campfire, coffee shop, or train tracks.

Mix several tracks and adjust their volumes individually. That way, you can create unique soundtracks. It also has a built-in timer to cut out the soundtrack when you want.

Daily Prompt

This is another one that seems to be available only to Apple product users. If you're a creative writer, you know how critical it is to write regularly. But sometimes work and real life interfere and make it difficult for you to write every day.

Daily prompt provides creative writing prompts to help you kick-start your daily writing habit. You can use it for free, however, if upgrading to a paid plan unlocks different features, like being able to write an unlimited number of prompts every day.

Typefully

Using Typefully, you can write and publish engaging Tweets without distractions. Rather than using Twitter's mobile app or desktop client, you can see a live preview of your Tweet thread while writing it, save multiple drafts, and schedule in a focused environment.

Hemingway Editor

Hemingway is a great alternative to Grammarly. You can use this simple tool to make your writing easier to read. It identifies common errors that make your writing less effective. It provides feedback on readability, writing metrics, and sentence highlights.

In addition, it helps you avoid too many adverbs, sentences written in the passive voice, and difficult-to-read paragraphs. Just copy and paste your text into the app, and Hemingway will use visual cues and some numerical data to provide feedback on what you’ve written.

Pacemaker Planner

If you want to keep track of your word count for different projects, the Pacemaker Planner is a great tool. You can tell the app whether you want to write a certain amount every day, or focus on getting results on certain days. You can see your performance in a chart. This provides a clear visual of where you stand. As you progress, it also adjusts itself.

IA Writer

IA Writer's sole purpose is to keep you focused on writing. It provides the crisp, uncluttered environment you need to write well, complemented by useful features like content blocks and syntax highlighting.

Cliché Finder

There’s nothing more annoying than using too many clichés in your writing. This simple tool helps you find them in your text. Just copy and paste the text into the window, and it quickly shows you clichés and lets you replace them with a specific word or phrase. It’s a helpful tool for making your writing more effective and unique.

Craft

This app is also only available for Macs and other Apple products. Like Notion, this note-taking app and word processor handles text in blocks. You can create bulleted lists, markdowns, pictures, sketches, PDF files, link previews, and many more things.

In addition, you can create pages from Wiki templates and collaborate with others on them. However, its best feature is its minimalistic design and great user experience.

ContentPro

If you search for hours on topics you want to write about, ContentPro finds articles from other companies about your topic.

If you use Google Docs, you can add the Chrome extension and search for articles about your chosen topic. This shows you how popular your topic is and also helps you find possible research sources to improve your writing.

Conclusion

These are some of the most effective tools to improve your writing. You won’t be able to use all of them, depending on what kind of computer or phone you have. However, you should be able to use at least some of them to stay focused, improve your grammar, brainstorm topics, and track your progress.
