All large companies have a PR department. Public relations are considered a fundamental part to preserve the good image of the company regardless of whether they are fashionable or even marketing agencies to be able to communicate their message to clients, investors and society in general.

A positive perception of a company can increase its sales and improve results. Fundamental to a company's reputation are the ability to convey the stories behind a brand and the ability to connect with stakeholders.

However, in this communication process, as a general rule, what we are able to say about ourselves will not have the same credibility as what they say about us. The techniques and models applicable to PR must be adapted to today's communication channels, both offline and online. For this reason, the strategy must be coherent in both fields.

Public Relations Strategy:

The people in charge of the PR in the companies work side by side with the senior executives of the company to design an overview of how the organization wants to be perceived , and how that image will be projected.

Importance of PR in a Company:

With a market as competitive and wide as the current one, with a great similarity in services and products, and with advertising suffering a credibility crisis, a good public relations strategy is necessary with which to position ourselves in the mind of the consumer to achieve better results than the competition through differentiation. In this way, it is possible not only to survive but also to be leaders.

Functions of the Public Relations:

1. External communication: Every organization or company must make itself known.

2. Internal communication : Adequate flow of information between employees and management, establishing feedback that allows knowing business policies.

3. Understanding of public opinion : To be able to manipulate it and act on it.

4. Humanistic functions : Developed with the aim of gaining consumer trust. To achieve this, it is essential that the information transmitted is true.

Public relations actions:

1. Events: PR professionals frequently organize events to convey a good image of the company, such as lending the name and brand to a charity event according to the brand philosophy.

2. Media relations: Talking to the media is a basic function of any PR department. Interviews with key people in the organization are prepared, questions are answered to journalists, press releases are written etc.

3. Emergency Management : Sometimes an organization or company is "hit" by a disastrous event that affects its public image, such as an oil company facing a spill, or a food company that has a case of contamination. Public relations must repair the damage to the image, and communicate how the problem is being worked on.

4. Create a blog: Publications about events in which we participate, promotions, product launches, information about activities, attractive content ... All in order to promote their reading and participation.

5. Profiles on social networks: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube ... If the message or video is attractive, it will be shared, which allows it to reach an unimaginable number of people and anywhere on the planet.

Ideas to implement the PR strategy at the right time:

You have to choose the moment very well to undertake public relations actions. This is when we want to increase the number of clients.

Identified audience : You have to correctly analyze who you want to direct your action to, your target audience ...

Measurable results : Measurable and concrete objectives must be established, to specify the impact and the ROI: Objectives to be established, positioning we want, effect on sales ... In short, the general objective must be to improve our image with investors and suppliers.

A lot of imagination: It is essential to always reinvent ourselves, create new channels, new alternatives etc. You have to be creative and daring, because this is the only way we have to make an impact.

Take advantage of social networks : In the 21st century, you cannot do public relations with models from the previous century. We must pay close attention to influencers, bloggers, tweets, social networks etc. In this way, we can be in permanent contact with our target audience.

The Benefits of Public relations:

If all the advice mentioned above can be applied correctly, PR strategies bring with them some benefits that we will develop below :

  • It is beneficial to establish communication with important entities such as NGOs, governments, large companies and the media.
  • Help to get new clients.
  • Create credibility and trust in our target audience.
  • It contributes to the positioning of the brand since it separates itself from the competition.
  • Makes it possible to achieve the goals and objectives established by creating harmonious relationships between company and stakeholders.
