How Vocal Communities Confuse Me So
Oh Community & Subcategory I Need, Where Art Thou?
Is it just me, or are some of the names for Vocal Communities confusing?
For instance, Cleats I would have expected to be all sports. Instead it is specifically for Soccer. But then there is Unbalanced which is for all the other sports with an explanation of "The Unbalanced explores the world of sports and the culture surrounding it; from basketball to baseball, football, hockey, wrestling, and more." But why is it called Unbalanced? What is the connection of sports to that word?
And then Journal is "We spend one-third of our lives stressing about it, thinking it, talking about it and doing it. Journal is for everything work related." --- Really? "Journal" is the word they chose for "everything work related?" That was so not intuitive to me. Here I'm equating Journal with Diary. LOL
And Viva for women didn't make sense to me either since it means life, bravo, or a college examination. But no where do I find it to mean woman, women, feminine, or female. What am I missing? LOL
Then there is Humans for relationships but also Marriage -- which isn't really about the relationship of Marriage but rather about Weddings - the event and all things related to that. So, why not call it Weddings...hello, that would be kind of clear and concise, eh? LOL And then marriage related stories - as in the actual relationship and not the event could be under.... Relationships... or did it have to be called Humans so that it was clear that we didn't care about animal relationships?.... I guess I'm just a bit grumpy today. LOL
Anyway, as you can see, I had to familiarize with all the communities on Vocal so that I have an idea of story range and where to put them. And so, being the data geek that I am, I mapped out all the Communities with their subcategories.
So What Is Under Where Anyway?
Well, that's the $5 question of the day isn't it? So, let's dig in and get ourselves an answer!
