How to Maximize The Benefits of Working from Home

After a lot of trial and error, I’ve come up with the perfect recipe for the new work from home culture

Ever since work from home commenced, I have had to make many trials and errors before I found something that worked for me. As an extrovert who is used to having co-workers and classmates near me, it took a lot of time to adapt.

Since we’re in a Pandemic and forced to work from home, I have had to take more control of my time to make sure I finish all of my tasks. It’s pretty amazing to be done working by 4 pm at the end of the day.

Gone are the twelve-hour shifts that left me with very minimal personal time.

Here’s what the daily schedule of my work-from-home schedule looks like.

6:45 — Wake up at 6:45 am to brush teeth and shave after my first alarm

6:50 — Brush my teeth, shave, and go for a quick walk outside

7:15 — Get dressed and eat a bowl of cereal

7:30 — Head to the university library to work.

8:00 — Pull out my laptop in my favorite spot in the library

8:05 — Check emails, blog submissions, and Facebook groups I run

8:15 — Write two or three articles for my blog

10:00 — Check Robinhood investments and make moves if needed

10:15 — Learn something new about marketing by reading articles

11:00 — Create more marketing content for Facebook and Instagram

12:00 — Go home, eat food, and relax a little

1:00 — Outline future content to create for Haikhuu social media

2:00 — Make calls and texts necessary to keep things flowing

3:00 — Read more content online and apply it to my marketing

4:00 — Finish work

4:15 — Exercise by running or doing a free-weight workout from home

5:00 — Free to play video games, relax, or go out and do my thing

11:00 — In bed, ready for bed to do it all again the next day

Try Multiple Variations of Your Daily Schedule

It takes time to find something that works for you. Experiment waking up and starting your day at different times because everyone’s different. For instance, waking up at 6:45 am works for me since I’m a morning person, and the military life groomed me that way.

If you want to work from 2 pm to 10 pm, that works too!

It doesn’t really matter when you start your day as long as you’re getting your stuff done when it's due.

Depending on your job, you should follow up and work around something that works for you. Our bosses know that we still have lives at home and all they want is production.

Tweak your schedule when you find something new that works out. It’s up to you!

Communicate With Your Employer

Every boss is different. Some workplaces constrict us from being able to tweak our schedules, and that’s okay. Communicating with my employer has worked essentially for me since they know that I commit time to write and doing other things at the start of every day.

The more transparent you are about your life goals, then you are five steps ahead in life. If they’re a quality employer, they’ll respect your hopes and dreams and listen to you.

Like I said before, as long as you’re getting the work done when it’s due, then I see no problem with moving things around.

When I used to work in an office, I noticed that my efficiency was a bit lower because there are distractions, and I’m not as comfortable compared to working in the comfort of my own home.

Final Thought

Work from home is definitely a brand new way to get things done and make a living. I am a fan of aspects here and there, but I still can’t wait until we’re out of this Pandemic.

Sometimes life changes abruptly as it did in 2020, but it’s how you respond to it that makes all the difference. Keep your head up, hang in there, and keep working hard. You’re doing great!

Half of us will miss the good ole’ days of working from home, and the other half will be glad to return to work in person.

Which one are you?
