GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) announced today that Claire McDonough will join the company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), succeeding Ken Parks, who is set to retire in 2027. McDonough will join the company in November 2026 before fully transitioning into the CFO role on January 1, 2027, following a comprehensive search process to identify the right leader for the next phase of the company's profitable growth.

The appointment concludes an extensive selection process that began after Parks shared his intention to retire. Parks, who has served as GE Vernova's first CFO since the company's spin-off, will continue in his current capacity through the end of 2026, overseeing the third- and fourth-quarter earnings calls and the publication of the 2026 annual report (Form 10-K). He will then transition into a Strategic Advisor role in the first quarter of 2027 before retiring in April 2027.

"I want to thank Ken for his impactful leadership as the first CFO for GE Vernova," said GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik. "He successfully leveraged his prior three public company CFO roles to build a strong foundation of financial processes while continually exhibiting a deep understanding of our business and strong ability to translate complex topics into clear and compelling messages." Parks' tenure has been instrumental in establishing the financial infrastructure and discipline required for GE Vernova to operate as an independent publicly traded company, following its separation from General Electric in 2024.

McDonough currently serves as CFO of Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer, a position she has held since 2021. During her tenure, she guided Rivian through its initial public offering (IPO) and managed multiple complex, multi-billion-dollar initiatives, including Rivian's joint venture with Volkswagen Group. She is responsible for the company's full suite of financial activities, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax, and investor relations. Additionally, she leads Rivian's corporate and business development, strategy, vehicle maintenance and repairs, facilities, and charging network a breadth of responsibilities that reflects her operational leadership capabilities beyond traditional finance functions.

"I'm incredibly excited to welcome Claire as our incoming CFO," Strazik continued. "She brings a sophisticated blend of capital markets expertise and hands-on operational leadership. Claire is a highly disciplined, detail-oriented leader who thrives in complex, mission-driven environments. I am confident she's the right leader for GE Vernova as we continue to grow profitably as a company and advance the future of energy."

McDonough's appointment brings a wealth of financial and strategic experience to GE Vernova. Before joining Rivian in January 2021, she served as a Managing Director in Investment Banking and co-head of the Disruptive Commerce Group at J.P. Morgan, where she advised technology and consumer companies on mergers, acquisitions, and capital-raising activities. Prior to that, she held various financial leadership roles at Fairway Market and Credit Suisse. She has also served on the Board of Directors of AutoZone since 2025, adding governance experience to her professional portfolio. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, where she was a two-sport varsity athlete, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

The leadership transition comes at a pivotal moment for GE Vernova. The company is at the forefront of the global energy transition, providing technologies and solutions for power generation, electrification, and decarbonisation. As demand for renewable energy, grid modernisation, and efficient power systems continues to grow, the company faces both significant opportunities and complex financial and operational challenges. McDonough's track record in managing high-growth, capital-intensive businesses and her experience in navigating public markets are expected to be valuable assets in steering GE Vernova's next phase of expansion.

The appointment also signals continuity and strategic intent for GE Vernova's leadership team. While Parks' retirement marks the departure of a founding financial architect, McDonough's arrival brings a fresh perspective and deep experience in both traditional finance and strategic business development. The smooth transition, with Parks remaining through 2026 and McDonough joining well ahead of the official handover, ensures continuity and knowledge transfer as the company prepares for its next chapter.

For the broader market, McDonough's move from Rivian to GE Vernova highlights the increasing convergence between the electric vehicle and energy infrastructure sectors. Her experience in scaling a high-growth technology company with significant capital requirements is likely to translate well to GE Vernova's mission of powering the world's energy transformation. Industry observers will be watching closely to see how her leadership influences GE Vernova's financial strategy, capital allocation, and growth initiatives in the coming years.
