Comfort is a cool Autumn day

Supper fuzzy socks or slippers

Leggings and a sweater

Listening to the rain pour

Flickering, fragrant candles

A good read

A relaxing activity

A drink to warm my soul

Toasty coffee, spiced chai, or apple cider

Lounging in my comfy bed

Or sprawled out on the couch

Or reclined in my favorite armchair

Comfort is my partner

Tight and warm hugs

Belly laughs

Inside Jokes

Soothing touches

Intense friendship

Goofy sense of humor

Parallel play

Passionate kisses

Private intimacies

Being our most authentic selves

Apologies when needed

Supporting each other’s growth

Being the safe space

Raising our daughter to be an amazing human being

Making mistakes

Learning together

Two mismatched pieces that fit seamlessly together

Comfort is my daughter

Her impeccable laughter

Watching her learn

Growing into a good person

Her creativity

Her compassion

Her goofiness

Big hugs

Goodnight kisses

“I love you mama”

Kissing her goodbye when she is still sleeping

Thankful for the blessing that she is

Comfort is clean sheets

Soft linen

Aromas of detergent and softener

Gentle caress against bare skin

Fluffed pillows

Warm comforter

Feelings of clean and peace

Deeper sleep

Calm and peace in cotton

Comfort is a good read

Fully immersible fantasy worlds

Epic adventures or quests

Enemies turned lovers

Lovers turned enemies

Dark desires and taboo acts

Just for fun

Or to educate

Topics of interests

Improving mental health

Understand human nature

Delve into the spiritual

Suggestions for improving routines

Something to captivate and provide disassociating

Comfort is expressing myself in writing

Jotting down my thoughts

Sharing experiences

Putting my day dreaming into words

Taking pride in creativity and production

Building rapport with characters

Reliving memories

Tapping more into what makes me tick

Filling pages with nonsense

Or self-proclaimed brilliance

An outlet for any emotion

And a place to escape for a moment

Comfort can be found in any season

Winter

Snowball fights

Sleigh rides

Looking at holiday lights

Making gifts for loved ones

Resetting at home with family

Spring

Flowers blooming

Sunshine peeking through clouds

Puddle jumping

Fresh produce

Planting new plants

Summer

Swimming

Sun on my face

Walking the beach

Longer time outdoors

BBQs

Autumn

Cozy indoor activities

Pumpkin patches

Corn mazes

Red, orange, and yellow leaves

October mischief

Comfort is something to ease into calm

Bunny-shaped pop-it

Lavender oils, herbs, and spray

Head scratcher

Squishmallows

Journaling

Reading

Music to suit a mood

Soothing shower

Breathing rituals

Self-talk

Comfort is soul food

Warm dishes

Fresh ingredients

Seasonings from around the world

But what makes it soul food is the company

Laughing with friends

Conversing with family

Anecdotes

Jokes

Catching up

Singing

Connecting on a deeper level

Sharing a meal with those I love

Especially holiday meals

Where everyone is in higher spirits

And there is even more things to be thankful for

To enjoy

Comfort is music

Hauntingly beautiful soul music

Low frequency beats

Heavy metal

Rock

Pop

Anything to shift a mood

Anything to encourage me to dance

Anything to relax to

Anything to inspire creativity

Comfort is the small things in life

Little things that make me appreciate the moment

It’s the people I am surrounded by

Or the environment that I have created

The things that bring me to the present

And soothe the chaotic thoughs racing through my mind.

Comfort is anything to bring mindfulness

The things that bring me back to the present

The things that let me breathe and re-center

Comfort rituals do not need to be long or elaborate

They merely need to let the world slow down for a moment

And let me just be me for a moment.
