“When you first meet Angela, she’ll most likely be dressed in her work clothes; big rubber boots, khakis, with hair pulled back” This is the portrait of a modern woman with a striking business model, and a work ethic that rivals most local start-ups today. Angela Moss owns and operates ‘Quality Windows and Cleaning,’ a company that provides cleaning services to those who need it at a professional level, with a pricing structure that is fair and affordable for anyone, which is one of the Columbus area's greatest strengths when it comes to local businesses.

Moss leads her business with her head first, then her heart. Open to change, but not in her values, this woman knows who she is, and what she wants. Which is refreshing; to see someone take such charge in leading their company. With an industry of most cleaning companies meeting standards only set by guidelines, what makes Moss's work so interesting to me is that her one and only guideline is cleanliness without fault, having this kind of integrity when it comes to your personal work is important, and Moss definitely knows this, which is why it's reflected in her business model.

I once worked at a large very popular chain retail store, and one of the first things you notice when you start any new job is how the management treats its employees. I typically talk to my new co-workers first about how the management treats its staff, and I was very pleased to hear nothing but positive realistic things. What stood out to me is that most of them praised our general manager for his work ethic, and that “he would never ask you to do something that he wouldn’t do.” I was immediately reminded of that instance when I first met Angela (see above quote)

Watching Moss work is an exercise in taking pride in one’s work, her employees exude the same amount of sweat while working. While they busy themselves with cleaning client’s houses and work-spaces, she sets an impressive standard with her willingness to lead by example when it comes to the task at hand. For some like myself, cleaning can be a meditative practice, one that leads to a healthier space and state of mind. Allowing your space to be cleaned by someone else takes an amount of trust that Angela Moss does not take lightly.

It could be argued that what sets Angela apart from the other cleaning companies spotlighted in the Columbus area is the sense of color that her personality exudes, you immediately feel you're apart of her circle, she is a trusted friend and confidant you can trust with your living or working space. Glancing at Moss's Thumbtack and Homeadvisor pages, this is reflected even in the short and succinct ways she states her intent to both current customers and future clients.

When businesses evolve, they typically tend to enter today’s business landscape via a social media strategy (i.e. Wendy’s, Television networks, College campuses) Moss is no exception. Having a presence across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. have all lent a great opportunity to help her business pursue growth and tweak her strategies.

#Blackgirlmagic continues to dominate the social media landscape, as it rightfully should. The hashtag celebrates the beauty, power, and resilience of black women. It’s been egregious that black business owners who are women, whom are a cornerstone of most communities, aren’t spotlighted as such, but Moss doesn’t seem to mind that she doesn’t have a spotlight on her business. She is here to get the work done, and to use her voice for growth both personal- and business-oriented. The nature of this article isn’t to examine the dignities behind hard work, but to spotlight one woman’s work in the Columbus area that has always been exemplary.
