Birth of Influenced Shell Purchases

Add to Cart

By now I’m accustomed to the sound of my computer mouse clicking away at social media influenced items that I add to my online cart, the anticipation, the thought “Will it be as I’m hoping it to be?” or “Will it look the way I want it to?”, the constant watching of the tracking page, waiting... waiting... waiting...; these are all the fun items- sorry, emotions that come with online shopping but more specifically one that social media gave you the idea to buy. For me, I’m not one to buy every single thing that becomes popular, or massively trendy but these items below, that I’ll be sharing today, are two of my favorite home/room decor items that I own currently, and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with the both of them and how they fit the puzzle of my noticed, “eclectic taste”.

The two items I’m sharing today are both closely related, so close that you could say they’re in the same “family”. The two items I’m sharing today are the Ceramic Shell Night Light and the Pastel Seashell Candle made from Soy Wax with strawberry scent added. I stumbled upon these (uncoincidentally) shell items through two different social media’s having no clue that I was falling into a pit of a mini shell shaped items obsession.

Shell Night Light from Wish! Linked at the end!

For the night light, I got influenced without realizing I had, I viewed an influencers Instagram story out of curiosity and the first time I laid eyes on that night light I knew it was something I had to have, something that would even make my mouse squeak if it couldn’t click and became real in the palm of my hand. At the time I couldn’t get the light from the particular site that was linked so my mouse and I googled the light and it was found for about ten dollars, which was thirty dollars less than the linked site, jackpot! But the catch was that my light would be purchased from Wish.com, everyone knows the little gag about wish either never delivering your orders, they come many months later, or the order came completely different from its advertised photo. So knowing what I knew and all the jokes something in me felt hopeful or some might even say wishful, when adding to my cart, something in me trusted it, and read all reviews and reviews of the seller, and to my satisfaction it came neatly packaged and just how I imagined, it was the same feeling of wishing upon a star and your wish comes true.

From MeltingSweets on Etsy! Linked at the end!

Last but not least, my Pastel Seashell Candle from Etsy. In recent months or even the past year I’ve been on Pinterest a lot more, with this attention being given to Pinterest I was able to catch on/notice the increase in unique pastel candles. Knowing I love candles and pastels, this was for sure an influenced item I would definitely acquire. Thanks to a little research I gathered that the best place to find these insanely cute candles is on Etsy, finding these candles and already half-way into an Etsy addiction, this was the cherry on top of the cake. My favorite thing about this candle and ordering it was the scent! Getting to choose between all the scents was a little shopping moment I found to be blissful. As mentioned above, I chose the strawberry scent titled “Sweet Strawberry” along with the option of the light pink. Now that I had chosen my dream options and added to my cart, what would soon be my Aphrodite inspired area came together.

To wrap up my shopping adventures that were influenced by users on Instagram and Pinterest, both items were worth every cent and are pieces I’ll be holding onto for a very long time, for me and my experience, I’d say it was successful and definitely helped contribute to forming my taste in decor and style for my room and or certain areas. So not only were they worth every cent they were also worth every click.
