Reading is something so many of us want to do more of but can never find the time. Enter the Audiobook! I’m a huge fan of listening and learning on the go, while driving or walking the dog, and I know there’s so many of you who love that too. If you’re looking for some new material, i’m sharing with you the best Audible self improvement books.

Audible is a platform by Amazon with all the best audiobooks, Audible originals, and even Audible podcasts! I download the app on my phone so I can pick up where I left off at any point, I love it!

THE CHIMP PARADOX: PROF STEVE PETERS
I’ve recommended this elsewhere and I think I will forever, it honestly changed my life in ways I did not expect! Acting impulsively, or based on what I wanted right then in that moment, was holding me back and I didn’t know it until finding this. All those times I didn’t resist the urge to scroll social media or sit in front of Netflix… it sounds trivial but honestly think of the time saving and mindset switch that could have benefited me and my businesses so much sooner? I can’t recommend this enough!

THE SUBTLE ART OF NOT GIVING A F*CK: MARK MANSON
Do you ever wonder why you bother? Why you put effort into things that aren’t actually important? I find myself asking these questions more with every year I get older. This book is like a cheat code to help you skip forward a few years and figure out what things in life are worth your time and energy! Bonus points for the narrator.

THE ART OF BEING BRILLIANT: ANDY COPE & ANDY WHITTAKER.
The writers are personal development coaches in business, gurus in the usual things like communication, leadership, goal setting, etc. What’s unique is that one of them is a comedian! They bring a different energy to productivity style books, focusing on what makes you happy and brilliant and doing more of it!

Critic Review: “Practical insights on how to make positive thinking work for you. And without any of the pastel-coloured, muzak-themed humourless preachy-ness that so often makes you give up on this useful and important topic.” (Michael Bungay Stanier, author of Do More Great Work)

HOW TO BE A PRODUCTIVITY NINJA: GRAHAM ALLCOTT
Worry Less, Achieve More and Love What You Do – isn’t that what we’re all trying to do, especially trying to grow blogs and businesses? It’s definitely my goal!

For those if you in the UK like me, the writer is from the UK too so it has that British practicality that gets to the point. I don’t think there’s any feeling quite like a productive day is there? Well this has given me more of these and it will for you too!
If you’re a list lover, this is for you!

THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE: STEPHEN R. COVEY
If you’ve not read this before now, you’ve almost certainly heard of it. It’s one of the best selling books of all time! There’s lots to think about and take away from this book, and it’s full of solid, traditional principles that will help you refocus and think differently. If you want to take this seriously, this is for you. Not so much with the light-hearted approach or humour though.

QUIET: FEARNE COTTON
I love love love Fearne, her outlook on life and her down to earth honesty. Listening to Fearne feels like getting advice from a great friend. She has written a few books, though this one focuses on those niggly voices we all sometimes have. Can I really make this my business? Who would ever buy from me? Who am I to coach people? Those self doubting thoughts do us no good. Quiet is an enjoyable read, not the most groundbreaking but very relatable and fun.

S.U.M.O (SHUT UP, MOVE ON): PAUL MCGEE
The Straight-Talking Guide to Creating and Enjoying a Brilliant Life
The author actually came to deliver a workshop at one of my old workplaces, so that makes me love this book even more! I originally read paperback version, but I like to read these types of things a couple of times to sink in more so the audiobook version is perfect for that. It’s not as ‘tough love’ as the title makes it sound (although many of us can do with that at times), but it is about taking responsibility and moving forward intentionally. If you find yourself getting stuck in procrastination, complaining about things out of your control maybe, this will help you to take action!

A BRIEF GUIDE TO SELF-HELP CLASSICS: JAMES RUSSELL
Now, full disclosure, I haven’t listened to this myself. I actually just spotted it today when I was finding the links for you guys, but I thought it was too good not to include! I don’t struggle to find time to listen to audiobooks but for those of you that do, this is the perfect solution – the best bits all wrapped into one! Save your time listening to audiobooks that might not be for you, and get the key takeaways from the best audible self improvement books out there. Then if you hear anything you love you can get the full book later.
