A secret to happiness for lazy people

It costs almost nothing and delivers instant results

By Lucy GuoPublished 16 days ago 3 min read

Life is meant to be lived at a leisurely pace;

It is your life, after all—

If you don't take it easy yourself, who will do it for you?

If you push yourself to the limit, others reap the rewards.

If you endure the hardship, others enjoy the comfort.

That’s why I’ve come up with a secret formula for long-term depression management and maintaining a good mood—one that costs next to nothing, is tailor-made for the lazy, and delivers immediate results!

Sleep comes first—above all else! Even if it will be the end of the world, you’d still need to get a good night's sleep.

Priority order: Sleep > Diet > Exercise.

I started winding down and sticking to a regular sleep schedule at 10 PM, ensuring I was asleep before midnight. After just two days, the results were truly immediate. My mood was boosted!

For the lazy among us, the golden rule is simple: eat well, sleep well, and live forever. Instead of mindlessly scrolling on your phone, try listening to white noise, giving yourself a quick massage, and putting on an eye mask for a blissful sleep.

Even if the world ends today, don't let it ruin my breakfast

Remember: even if the apocalypse were upon us, nothing should stop us from happily enjoying a nutritionally balanced breakfast!

Here is a 5-minute "lazy person's hack" for a complete, nutritious breakfast—a formula I’ve been using for months that has really made me appreciate the importance of the morning meal.

Ingredients: [Greek yogurt, eggs, ground flaxseed, raw cacao powder, nuts, unsweetened soy milk powder, milk/oat milk, fruit]

Formula: High protein + Quality carbs + Dietary fiber

1. Quality carbs (steel-cut oats): The night before, use a thermal food jar and boiling water to steep 20–30g of steel-cut oats; by the next day, you’ll have a hearty bowlful. Stir in a spoonful of ground flaxseed for extra fiber.

2. Quality protein (2 boiled eggs + Greek yogurt):

Set a timer on your egg cooker the night before so the eggs are ready to peel and eat the moment you wake up.

Scoop a generous amount of Greek yogurt into a bowl, sprinkle on a handful of nuts and a spoonful of raw cacao powder, then toss in a few blueberries or some banana slices—and you're done.

Alternatively, mix up a cup of unsweetened soy milk or pour a glass of milk.

Why overcomplicate breakfast with elaborate recipes? A simple combination of whole, unprocessed foods is enough to keep you fully satisfied until noon—and sets the tone for a great day!

Say no to high-intensity workouts that require following along!

Exercise does trigger the release of endorphins, but exercise is meant to serve you—so why put yourself through the torture of long, grueling daily sessions? For those of us who are naturally lazy, the goal is to embrace a "healthy kind of laziness" as a long-term lifestyle.

Unless the gym is right downstairs in your building, don't go.

Skip those high-intensity cardio routines that last 40 to 50 minutes.

Avoid heavy-load strength training.

Don't sign up for yoga classes.

No need to enroll in any formal courses.

Let’s get back to the original idea: being lazy yet happy. Simply getting moving counts as exercise.

You could take a 20-minute walk after a meal or lift light dumbbells at home for 20 minutes. Doing this three or four times a week is enough; as long as you make improvements without straining yourself, your mood will naturally lift.

A 5-minute morning breathing meditation!

This is a completely free way to instantly boost your energy.

After waking up, simply find a 5–6 minute breathing meditation video and follow along; your mood will improve immediately.

Focusing on your breath activates your parasympathetic nervous system and relaxes your brain, leading to an immediate mood boost.

A Final Thought

Only when we are healthy—both mentally and physically—can we clearly identify the sources of our stress and keep our minds sharp.

Those heavy burdens that once left us gasping for air suddenly reveal their true nature, and we gain the energy to handle them rather than being pushed around by them.

Starting today, get plenty of sleep, eat a hearty breakfast, take your B vitamins, and be a happy "Lazy-One" who doesn't waste energy on self-doubt but instead directs that energy outward at others! If you choose happiness, let me tell you: you really will find happiness in this life.

✨ Wishing all you "Lazy-Ones" happiness every day!
