Note: "This story is just a product review."

Big changes are coming to Vocal and I already find myself overjoyed with just the first and seventh features among the 7 updates that have been announced.

Vocal has just declared what I call competition to its competitors, and from the looks of it, this Vocal referral method seems to be more promising than any referral program ever created for this type of Business Model.

If I were a Vocal competitor, I would think about that.

One of the things I can say is that this new Vocal referral model will attract many creators to the platform.

The announcement just arrived in my mailbox, and I went to see what news Vocal was bringing me today. It was like a light at the end of the tunnel, showing me the way to get to a new model of making money and maintaining a community of supports through my written content.

The referral model is called Pledges. Pledges allow the creator to be rewarded directly from their audience in a big way. $2.99 is the amount each creator can raise from their supporters through Pledges.

How Pledges Work?

"According to Vocal, Vocal + members can raise $2.99 per month of Pledges from audience members who wish to support their stories. As a Vocal + member, you will have the option to enable Pledges right from your Settings Page in the Creator Tools section. Once enabled, your account will be able to accept pledges from your fans every month." This is much like the Medium referral model, but with one major difference. In the Medium model, members who were not already subscribed to the platform were supposed to sign up through your link, so when they joined the premium package for unlimited access, you would get a monthly fee from that referral. In Vocal the Pledges are much more innovative, rather than just being members who are not yet part of the platform, this encompasses both regular readers, creators, and visitors, so there is a greater chance of creators collecting profits from elsewhere than the model Medium has made available to creators.

So Can the Medium Referral Model Break Down?

Not exactly, the Medium referral model is not unattractive, not least because it is one of the most profitable ways for some Medium creators today, but the Vocal referral model, has pretty much revolutionized the way referrals will be coerced.

"For creators who are already on Vocal, the option for Pledges will appear in a sticky bar at the bottom of the screen, next to the options for Signing and tipping. After completing the simple and secure verification, you will become a pledged subscriber. Your $2.99 support payments will be automatically paid to the creator each month and their stories will appear in your feed. And should you wish to cancel a Pledge, you can do so at any time. You can manage a pledge to a specific creator directly from your profile - or you can visit your Billing Panel, where all your recurring monthly payments are tracked. If you decide to cancel a pledge, you can continue subscribing to the creator for free."

Remember, only Vocal + members can qualify for this referral model, because this also helps to further elevate the number of Vocal members and maximize profits within the platform itself.

In all this news, Vocal not only announced the Pledges but also announced new features coming soon to the platform.

1.The Pledges that are already in place: And according to Vocal, this is just the first version of this feature, as time goes on they will improve and expand based on feedback from creators. Pledge's plans include layered Pledge options, the ability to offer exclusive content closed only to their Pledge subscribers, and even limited messaging between Vocal+ creators and the subscribers who pledge to support them.

2. Create and read within Vocal: This is one of the other new features that have been announced and that according to Vocal, will be enhanced new ways to create and read within Vocal.

3. Stats and profile: Soon Vocal creators will be able to notice changes in the stats and profile.

4. Read Next and Series: These are the next features we will see in Vocal as creators, to help us better control our reading experience on Vocal. So our audience can continue reading the next piece without having to go back to the profile and choose a new story to read next.

5. Collecting Badges: Soon as Vocal creators, we will be able to collect badges for our profile. Badges will lose indicate when a creator has reached a milestone or done something amazing. It's like the Top Writers badges that Medium gives to creators when they reach a milestone in some niche category on the platform.

6. Optional and controlled comments: soon all creators will be able to accept comments from our audience. A way to know what our audience thinks about our work.

7. Although not given the most requested feature than the comments option, but finally the arrival of the Vocal app was announced. Soon iOS and Android users will be able to download the app and interact with their favorite creators wherever they go.

I am excited about these new features and updates Vocal finally won't miss out on arriving.
