Working from home has become increasingly popular thanks to recent advances in technology. It's easier than ever to telecommute either full or part time. All you need is a laptop and internet access. More people are choosing to leave the corporate office as more and more work from home jobs become available. While working from home comes with its own set of challenges, the pros seem to far outweigh the cons. Here are just a few reasons why you might want to consider working from home for your next job.

Flexibility

Most at home jobs offer more flexibility than your average office job. While you may need to be available at certain hours, you can usually manage your schedule to allow you to do school runs or other errands throughout the day as needed. You can schedule appointments more easily and attend events you weren't able to before. Many jobs allow you to create your own hours, and you can even create your own paystub using a paystub generator when needed.

Comfort

The dream of working in your pajamas every day can actually be a reality. Unless you have to make a video call, you can wear whatever you want you want to work each day since there is no one there to see. In addition to getting to wear comfortable clothes, you can also work in a more cozy environment. You can work from your couch or even your bed if you want. Some people prefer to create their own home office. This can be helpful to have a space that is dedicated to work, and you still get the advantage of setting it up however you want.

Privacy

It can be difficult to get any privacy in a large corporate office. Even making a simple phone call can be a challenge with so much background noise. You won't have that problem at home though. Office gossip can also be hard to get away from. It seems that everyone knows everyone else's business. It can be difficult to stay out of the drama sometimes, but that won't be a problem at home.

Save Money

Working from home can help both the company and employee save money. The company doesn't have to worry about paying for office space, while the employee doesn't have to worry about the cost of gas. People who have long commutes can end up spending hundreds each month on gas, but you won't have to worry about that when working at home. There is also no need to keep an updated work wardrobe, which can get extremely expensive. You'll also end up saving money by making your own coffee and eating at home.

Independence

One of the biggest complaints from employees is that they feel micromanaged. It can be difficult to get your work done with someone looking over your shoulder all of the time telling you exactly how to do every detail of your job. Although you will likely still have a boss that wants to check in with you, he won't be there every minute of every day. Working from home also teaches you to be more independent and self-sufficient. You don't have someone there all of the time telling you to get your work done, so you have to have a lot of self-discipline and know when to buckle down and do your work.

People

Just because you won't be around your coworkers every day doesn't mean that you won't have the opportunity to get to meet different people. Most companies that allow telecommuting hire people from all over the world. This allows you the opportunity to connect with people from all different places.

Working from home isn't right for everyone, so think long and hard before making your decision. You can always check with your current company to see if they allow telecommuting part time. Ultimately just be sure to do what is best for you and your family.
