Where your company is based is an important decision. It can seriously affect the success or failure of your company. If you pick the right location, then you are far more likely to thrive whereas, if you pick the wrong one, then you might struggle to survive. With that in mind, here are three reasons why picking your company’s location is so important.

Your Clients

Your clients are how your business is going to make money. You need to have your business located in a place that is going to maximise the number of clients that you can get. This might be because you need to meet with your clients as part of your work, or perhaps you need to go visit them. If you have to travel long distances, then it is going to be costly to your business. If your clients have to travel long distances, then they likely just won’t. Instead, they will work with your competitors. If you are lucky enough that your location doesn’t matter when it comes to getting customers or clients, then that is great. However, lots of businesses need to be in a central location so that they can get customers and clients. If you are a store, then you need to make sure that people can find you and as such, you want to maximise your potential footfall in order to get the largest number of customers. Make sure that you think about your customers and clients when picking a location for your business.

Your Work

Your work might mean that you need to be in a certain place. This is similar to needing to be near your clients, but it is much more than that. If you need things in the middle of a city in order to do your work as a business, then that is where you need to be. If you need to be somewhere that is more rural, then that is where you need to be. You need to make sure that you can actually do your work. Your company might need to go door-to-door and sell products. Where you store those products and how you transport them to customers is going to be important. You will also want to consider where you put your office in that equation. It will need to be near enough to where the stock is stored, but not too far away from customers and clients. It is complicated. You don’t want to be stuck in a building full of products when what you really need is an office with computers.

Your Employees

Your employees are a massive part of your business. They are what make your business run smoothly and bring in revenue. You need to make sure that you are in an area that is going to attract the right kinds of employees and that these same employees are able to reach your business. You want to make sure that your employees don’t have to travel long distances to do their work because this can cause your business to accrue large expenses bills. You are also far more likely to attract employees if you are in a central location. If you are hidden away on the outskirts of town, then you are not going to get the same calibre of applicants. People will always want to travel the shortest possible distance to work and this might mean that they immediately discount your company if you are based in an awkward to get to part of town. Instead, if you are in the middle of the city, then you are in an attractive location.
