The Dark Truth of Start-Up Businesses

Models versus businesswomen, male independent filmmakers. Stephen King says “Sure. I'm afraid of all kinds of things. I'm afraid of failing at whatever story I'm writing—that it won't come up for me, or that I won't be able to finish it.”

I had spent three days at the 30 Under 30 Forbes Summit meeting Kristin Garcia and speaking briefly to Matthew Soren an independent filmmaker and jack of all traits. I have learned many things I will never forget, and I am proud to say when dealing with people make sure to do your research.

I had been interviewing Soren on Instagram and learned many things some of which I shouldn't be shocked over. First of all, when I spoke to Soren, he didn't hold back the truth about Garcia.

Understand, as a blogger, I didn't realise I would be a reporter of sorts. I didn't think the truth would unfold this way.

Me: Hi I'm Emily Aurelien Krissy Marie told me about you in writing a blog entry about you and Krissy. Will you tell me about yourself.

Me: I know she said your an independent filmmaker

S: Hello Emily, it’s a pleasure Krissy told me all about you! That you are a dope writer who is passionate about her work,you event wrote books congratulations on that by the way!

S: My name is Matthew Soren I work in production at Kristin Marie Media It is a job that I truly love! I recently had my biggest job being head of production for a Forbes cover that was a dream come true. My Mother Tracy Burke and Krissy truly are my support system, They have always pushed me with love! So in result of love I am a production Manager I am independent Filmmaker and truly a free soul,my films consist of the Environment, fashion and gaming my 3 true Loves not in any special order. I also spend my time volunteering at the animal shelter I have always had a deep admiration for animals along with the power of knowledge, I help get children in sandiego,California access to books with a non profit called words alive I will share there instagram below but that’s a little about who I am at this stage in my life.

S: I want to write an article about Words Alive. Do you have the email of the person who founded the company.

Me: Well nonprofit company

S: I was under the impression you were going to write about me? That’s what Krissy told me

Me: I am going to write about you. I was under the impression Krissy was going to promote me and text me about some collaborations. I'm sorry I've not gotten around to writing about you I am in college and I have a job Matt.

S: She’s promoting your writing about me as I’m her client and you to? Not just any writings ones about the industry fashion, environment, smart city’s all that I’m interested in really no worries maybe you can cover something this week??

Me: Maybe where she promoting our work.

Me: I don't know, are we?

S: Well I am that’s why the topic is me

S: N i know she’s working with you because your who’s writing about me hahaha

Me: So I'm not?

Me: So I'm being used pretty much

Me: I should be paid if it's benefiting you

Me: I'm still writing the next article able you working for the nonprofit

Me: Well volunteering

S: Being used respectfully she doesn’t need to use you😂😂😂

I know by writing this piece I am writing the truth and I will not write a retraction either. The truth needs to be known. I learned many lessons from a model, and media company Garcia promotes to promote my work I should have had it in writing on my part and had it notarized. Second of all, I learned in these times if I am to start a business charge modest fees starting out. And all contracts don't have to be drawn up by attorneys and cost a fortune. I can draw them up myself I took business classes and drew up contracts for my now-deceased grandfather when he was a landlord.

I will always write the truth and seek it. I learned something from all this, when something is too good to be true it usually is. On a positive note, I did learn how to gain more followers on social media to build a following.
