Phillip Schofield is an English television presenter best known for co-hosting Holly Willoughby's ITV shows This Morning and Dancing On Ice.

Following the scandal surrounding his affair on This Morning, Phillip Schofield has conducted his first interviews.

After the TV host admitted to lying about an "unwise but not illegal" consensual relationship he had with a younger male colleague on the daytime series while he was married, it was revealed on Friday, May 26 that Schofield had been dropped by his agent.

Since then, Schofield has left ITV, and the company's executives have said that the former This Morning host "badly let them down."

The 61-year-old spoke with BBC's Amol Rajan about the details of the affair and specific scandal-related allegations.

The five most significant revelations from the Schofield interview are listed below:

  1. Schofield says he didn’t “groom” his younger colleague.

The presenter claimed that he began "innocently" following the unidentified individual on Twitter, where he provided guidance on how to get started in television. He stated that he disagrees with the conclusion that this might be considered "grooming." Schofield said it was "a couple of months" after the male started working on This Morning that subsequent to "becoming mates... something happened that just changed [their relationship].

He added that this was "the second I think back on" and "lament". Schofield said the man was 20 when he initially had "any sort of sexual contact with him", and that they had five or six heartfelt experiences north of a couple of months. " It was a grave blunder", he said, adding: " I shouldn't have made it happen."

2. Schofield believes his profession is over.

According to Schofield, he does not believe he will ever work in TV again. "I'm done. It breaks my heart that I have to talk about television in the past. I have lost everything".

He proceeded: “What am I going to do with my days? I see nothing ahead of me but blackness, sadness, regret, remorse, and guilt. I did something very wrong, and then I lied about it consistently.”

An expert, although believes Phillip's future will remember a stretch for TalkTV however he should meet one condition first.

"TalkTV might be the platform Schofield needs right now to rebuild his career.

Expert Andy Barr told the Daily Star that "if the current media spotlight reveals no new allegations then this is entirely recoverable for him" and that "TalkTV could be the perfect place for him to start again in a high-profile media environment."

Andy suggested that Phillip take a break from the spotlight to safeguard his mental health.

He went on to say, "I think the public will expect him to have a career break before announcing his comeback."

3. Schofield admits to having suicidal ideas.

He stated that the "relentless" reports about him are affecting his mind in a "catastrophic way." “Do you want me to die? Because that’s where I am. I have lost everything.” In the wake of the scandal, he claimed that his daughters had "saved" his life by not leaving his side "for a moment." He went on to say: “If my girls hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t be here because I don’t see a future. How much do you want a man to take? I know I’ve done something wrong, but it’s constant.”

4. Schofield believes homophobia contributed to the scandal's worsening.

Schofield claimed that the public's reaction to the scandal was influenced in part by homophobia. On the off chance that it was male-female then it wouldn't be such an embarrassment," he said, uncovering that " a very prominent public figure” called him to say they have "never seen such homophobia in my entire life".

He responded when asked to elaborate on this, "If it’s a gay relationship, then suddenly it raises eyebrows. In other age groups, people do find each other attractive; it does happen." If it had been a "heterosexual relationship," he stated, the scandal would not have been as "massive."

5. Schofield denies “paying” anyone off.

When asked if he had "paid off" any parties or made anyone sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), suppressing negative stories about him, Schofield responded, "God no."

He likewise denied getting the unnamed male "fired" from ITV and said he addressed him the prior night he emerged as gay on This Morning. " He had some awareness of that; While also refuting Eamonn Holmes' claims that he is a "bully" who "lords it around" on television sets, Schofield stated, "he was never gonna out me."
