ISLAMABAD: On the third anniversary of 'Operation Swift Retort,' Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed his firm resolve and unshakable commitment to the country's and nation's security.

Pakistan is commemorating the third anniversary of its air force's "Operation Swift Retort," which was launched against intruding Indian jets in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on February 27, 2019, and resulted in the downing of two Indian fighter jets. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman's MiG-21 fighter was shot down during an aerial battle over Azad Jammu Kashmir, and he was detained.

Taking to Twitter, PM Imran said that Pakistan’s armed forces, backed by nation, would respond to any military aggression in a befitting manner as they showed India on February 27, 2019.

On the third anniversary of Pakistan's exemplary response to India's ill-conceived and botched military airstrike inside its territorial airspace in 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he had always believed in conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy, but that this should not be mistaken for frailty.

ISPR describes success in adversity as the nation's resolve and operational preparation.

In a message commemorating the third anniversary of 'Operation Swift Retort,' Inter-Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar noted that success in the face of adversity is defined not by weapons or numbers, but by a nation's resolve and operational preparedness of the armed forces.

"Today commemorates the 3rd anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, when Pakistan's military forces offered a befitting reaction to India's failed misadventure," the DG ISPR said in a statement.

He claimed that the Pakistan Air Force's accomplishments in shooting down two Indian fighter jets, the Pakistan Navy's detection of an Indian submarine at sea, and the Pakistan Army's resounding response at the Line of Control (LOC) are proof of the Pakistan Armed Forces' professionalism and determination to defend the motherland.

The 27th of February serves as a warning to India: FO

Pakistan warned on Sunday that February 27 serves as a warning to India that no amount of militarism or war-mongering jingoism will go unpunished.

"Today commemorates the third anniversary of Pakistan's exceptional response to India's ill-conceived military airstrikes inside its national airspace," the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a statement.

During "Operation Swift Retort," Pakistani Armed Forces responded appropriately to India's botched misadventure by shooting down two of its fighter jets.

The spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan's resolve to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs, saying India had violated Pakistani airspace and conducted airstrikes inside Pakistani territory on February 26, 2019, in blatant violation of the United Nations (UN) charter and international law.

"Our heroic military forces immediately retaliated against the bungled attempt to infringe on Pakistan's sovereignty." Pakistan not only staunchly maintained its sovereignty, but it also exercised extreme prudence," he noted.

Two Indian aircraft crossed into Pakistani airspace again on February 27, 2019, according to the spokesperson, who said that these two aircraft were shot down by Pakistan Air Force fighters.

As a goodwill gesture, the captured pilot of one of the downed planes was returned to India.

"Pakistan is a staunch supporter of regional peace and stability. "At the same time, our wish for peace is matched by a firm resolve and ability to defend ourselves," the statement added.

Furthermore, India must remember the consequences of its rash behaviour in February 2019 and avoid repeating the same mistake in the future, he warned.

According to the spokesperson, Pakistan's government, armed forces, and people remain steadfast in their determination to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity against any invasion.

"As we commemorate this day, we reiterate our commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in accordance with relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and the demands of the Kashmiri people," he said.

The spokesperson also urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to hold India accountable for its flagrant and systematic abuses of human rights and crimes against humanity in occupied Kashmir without delay.
