‘Would You Rather’ is Extremely Difficult to Watch

I thought this film was going to suck. Then once I began watching the film, I couldn’t look away.

The film follows the story of a woman named Iris who is determined to help her sick brother in any way that she can. Unfortunately, she has no way to afford his treatment. Then she meets a mysterious man who offers her a chance to earn money by playing his games inside of his own mansion.

Iris is obviously desperate, and she decides to participate in the games, not really knowing what she is getting herself into. She meets a group of people who are participating in the games, and each of them are all in the same boat like her, desperate for money in any shape or form. Then the group is shocked to find out that something far more sinister is about to take place.

The group learns that this game is literally life or death, and only one person will be left alive to collect the prize money. While the games aren't exactly like Jigsaw level from the Saw movies, the weapons that are used on the main group is still so hard to watch. You will feel so sorry for everyone taking part in the games, minus one person that became a total bastard after losing her daughter.

Yes, I get that I should have sympathy for her character, but she pissed me off throughout the whole movie, and even the other characters were baffled by her behavior in a situation like this.

I thought the film would go over the top with the violence, but the simplicity of the games honestly still made me feel sick. It was like watching the first Saw movie, without the over-the-top kills. And you will feel so horrible watching these people die one by one, because just like Iris, they are there to help people they care about.

After quite a few of the group members get killed, Iris and the rest of the remaining survivors devise a plan for Iris to escape. She is unfortunately captured by the guards, and is saved before getting tortured by one of the sick people who live in that mansion. She is brought back to the games, for the remaining final ones, with only three survivors left.

It's down to Iris, the bastard, and a man who has a mini crush on Iris. The three of them are given three cards, that consist of the final deadly games they will all be going through. The bastard is given the ulimate karma for treating everyone badly, by drowning. This was the same way she had lost her daughter, so I guess it was only fitting for her to receive the same fate.

I'm being sarcastic here, but her character really pissed me off.

Then the last two survivoros are Iris and the guy that has a thing for her. The leader of the games gives Iris a gun, and tells her that one of them is going to get the money. The guy pleads with Iris, and she unexpectedly kills him, taking the money.

Iris wins the game, and she is able to go back home, to finally help out her brother with his medical treatment. Unfortunately, when she goes home, her brother is now dead. He had ended his life, to make things easier for his sister, so that she no longer has to deal with him.

Iris takes hold of her brother's body, going into a frenzy after everything she had gone through to save his life.

This ending was so gut wrenching to watch. I could not believe the ending to this movie, and I was so upset.

It's a great film, but man, it's very difficult to sit through.
