Why a Good Resident Evil Movie Adaptation is Desperately Needed

Resident Evil has been through a rough patch over the years when it comes to adapting films for this videogame franchise. I personally haven't seen any of the films, but I heard that the majority of the films weren't that great. However, I've been hearing the opposite when it comes the recent trailer of the new Resident Evil movie being released this year. 

Fans think that we are finally getting a promising adaptation of this amazing zombie franchise, but of course, there is a lot of doubt. 

I have watched the trailer, and I have noticed only one flaw in this trailer. The director confirmed that the movie is taking place during Resident Evil 2, that followed the story of several survivors trying to escape Raccoon City, that is now infected with a zombie virus. 

From what I saw in the trailer, I was confused with why there was snow. It never snowed in the original game, and I can see why some fans were a little confused over this reveal. 

Despite this one single flaw, there is a lot of things that this trailer gets right. 

We are following a completely random character that is not in the games.

I have to be honest here. 

It's definitely not a good idea to follow a character that the fans love from the videogame franchise. I just feel that fans are always expecting too much from the live action, and while I'm sure that it could be possible to get a good live action version of our favorite characters from this franchise, it wouldn't work with just any random director. 

If this new movie becomes successful and it leads to a potential sequel, this project will either have to remain with the same director, or be given to someone who truly understands the storyline of Resident Evil to make the fans happy. 

I'm so glad that this movie is choosing to follow a random character. 

Watching some dude we are not familiar with trying to survive against an army of zombies and possible mutations is a GENIUS idea. It will give people who aren't familiar with the videogames a small glimpse into how the dead are in this videogame franchise, and I'm sure that this movie will (hopefully) satisfy both audiences.

The director appears to understand how the dead should be portrayed in a Resident Evil movie.

This is the biggest thing that will possibly make the movie franchise to Resident Evil a huge success. The zombies must be portrayed as extremely dangerous, along with mutations that will freak out people who are being introduced to the franchise for the first time, while making videogame fans happy at the same time. 

Resident Evil is known for awesome zombie transformations, along with very dangerous situations that will leave videogame fans gasping for breathe as they struggle to get through a difficult location of the games. 

This is all that the fans need for this movie adaptation to work. 

And from the looks of it, I think the director possibly succeeded. 

From what I had seen in the trailer, I think I caught two possible zombie mutations that look both ridiculous and so scary. There was a fat zombie that was just sitting there, and there was even one huge zombie that was a combination of a bunch of dead bodies. 

I'm surprised that some fans weren't happy with this, but I think that these zombie transformations look pretty good, and it fits the zombie mutations that I have seen throughout the games.

This videogame movie adaptation was created by the guy who made Weapons, so let's hope that we will finally get a faithful adaptation to Resident Evil. 

There will most likely be some flaws, but let's hope that the flaws will be minimal, and we will get a movie that will become a cult classic for the popular zombie franchise.
