When You Suddenly Have Another Visitor

You decided to throw a housewarming party. You were excited to invite all of your close family members and friends.

They all came and the barbeque was going perfectly. You then went inside the kitchen to grab the dessert when you suddenly see that the faucet had been running and water had spilled all over the floor. Not thinking much of it, you rapidly cleaned it up. You wanted to go back to the party and enjoy the moment.

Night came by and now it was only you and your partner hanging out on the patio. You guys were talking about the marvelous evening when you hear something crash in the living room. The glass of the coffee table was smashed. You thought it had been the dog.

A few hours go by, you couldn’t sleep. You went downstairs and you saw the kitchen sink starting to fill with water once again. Oh boy.

You start to wonder. What it could be?

You are thinking that everything is in your head.

You must’ve left the water flowing after washing the dishes. Maybe it was your partner. You filled up with tons of explanations. You thought you were overthinking. Anything could be possible. Stop overthinking!

You then realized that this wasn’t the first time you felt like this.

But it must be all in your head. You turned some music on; this was always the perfect trick to calm your nerves. Stop overthinking.

The floor had to be cleaned. Your dog was beside you, tagging along. The next thing you did was to go to the living room. You took out the computer, searching for new coffee tables. Have to be proactive right? You need to find one that could resist your naughty dog who was now fast asleep right next to you.

After a few hours, you started to shiver. Goosebumps crawled all around. Your dog woke up. He was looking down the hall. He wouldn’t budge. He would not budge.

Everything is in your head… right?

Memories come back unwanted

This isn’t normal. Your friendly dog started to wildly bark.

This isn’t normal.

Every inch of your body told you to run but you couldn’t stop staring down the hall. You suddenly see something move. Could it be?

You start to remember, the emotions… your fright. You had forcefully forgotten about the trauma. You couldn’t believe it. Was it coming once again for you? You want to run to your partner and leave. Leave everything behind. You just can’t handle this once more.

But you can’t move.

The shadow, that same shadow, is coming.

You shut your eyes close. The dog suddenly stopped. Time flew by. You thought everything was okay now. But from the corner of your eyes, you see something hovering over you.

This isn’t normal.

Fighting the fear

This can’t be happening again. Your body shakes in fear, but…you also get angry.

Why now that you are once again happy? You have a family, a home. It’s not fair; frustration creeps in. You decide that it’s the last time you will feel this way.

A dark presence is coming closer. Your dog starts to bark again. Angrier and angrier you get. Why me? Did I do something wrong?

Closer and closer.

This is enough. “It ends here,” you say. You jump up and scream with all your might, with all your wish to fight — whatever has been following you since you were a kid.

Nothing.

Amazement is there. Relief comes by. A deep sigh lets out. Will it come back? Who knows. But enough is enough.
