Over the weekend, Teen Wolf made its grand return to television for the final ten episodes of Season 6, which will close out the series. Fans are saddened to see the series go, but the good news is that the mid-season premiere conveyed that we can expect a fitting resolution for the show.

But arachnophobes might want to steel themselves, as the last episodes may well have something to do with a mix of spiders and the supernatural.

For a mid-season premiere, "Said The Spider To The Fly" really outdid expectations. Between setting up a seemingly unsuspecting antagonist, and throwing us all for a loop with the introduction of a new Hellhound, this was a spectacular episode we didn't want to see end.

That in itself should be a good reason to keep watching. And this episode did an excellent job teasing the newest supernatural creature to haunt Beacon Hills. We don't know exactly what is stalking the town. Whatever it is, Scott and his pack are on the case. They intend to stop the new monster before leaving Beacon Hills behind for good.

At the moment, Scott's pack doesn't know much about the creature. All they know is that it escaped from the Wild Hunt when the door to the Ghost Rider's dimension was opened.

Where is the new monster hiding?

Halwyn, the Hellhound who appeared briefly, made it clear that he was hunting the escaped creature. But the new Hellhound didn't tell Parish or Liam anything about the creature before his demise, so we're still in the dark. But the indication that it came from the Ghost Rider's dimension should be reason enough for Scott's pack to go on the attack before this new monster begins taking lives.

The bigger question is: what is it?

The trailer from Comic-Con offers only a brief glimpse at the creature, so there's not much to go on. We know it is some sort of ancient evil, but that's not very specific. There is however, some connection between spiders and this malevolent being, made evident by all the references to spiders during the latest episode.

Not only were spiders theme in the episode, but the wolves found dead in the woods had burst open with millions of tiny spiders pouring out of their orifices. Then there's Lydia's vision, which manifested a hallway full of spider webs. And that spoke to her about the evil that was released from the Ghost Rider's dimension.

So it seems the new creature is tied to spiders, at least in its in nature. Perhaps it'll even be responsible for the strange behavior of animals in Beacon Hills. The spiders, wolves, and rats didn't begin acting out until this new creature cropped up. If that's the case, this new beast could very well be a spider-driven were-creature. Who knows, maybe it'll even be a dark twisted version of Spider-Man... though that scenario seems like a stretch for the more serious tone of this series.

Teen Wolf airs Sundays on MTV.
