A horror movie with a narrative? - Oh my!

Horror, no matter how surprising it is, has moved the movie industry forward. Jaws, Dawn of the Dead, Alien and so on. And move to this day. It is simply an amazing genre that attracts dozens of viewers every time.

Jordan Peele made his debut as a director with the film Get Out, which impressed critics and audiences. Thanks to a modest budget, Peel, like his predecessors, had to get out, come up with an interesting scenario, and not rely on special effects. Despite increased production costs, the second film is not inferior to the first.

Us, in contrast, to Get Out, is a full-fledged horror movie, although there was a place for humor here. When Get Out only depresses with its atmosphere, Us scares, while there are no standard screamers here. The picture manages to touch you for the living, keeping it constantly in suspense and ending with a spectacular ending.

And if in the Get Out it is difficult to predict the ending, then in the new work by Peele, the main plot twist is obvious from the very beginning. That's just what it will lead to, you are unlikely to predict, and for some reason, this is what leads into fear - you subconsciously understand what is really happening here, but it is scary.

From the first minutes of the film, Jordan Peele adheres to the genre framework of a horror movie, making the viewer afraid of what might happen on the screen. And he does it pretty well.

The film surprisingly manages to get into the head of the viewer, either by its elegant simplicity or by understandable characters. The main characters are an American family of four. Describing the family would be a kind of a spoiler, so I will limit myself to the fact that in some of them the audience will find themselves and from that, you unconsciously worry about the characters.

What happened to them? They met with their doubles, doppelgangers, but with much more evil ones. Who they are and what they want is the main intrigue, and the answers are scattered here and there, so Peele left you to assemble this puzzle together.

If you find the session in the original, then I advise you to watch it in English, since the acting is simply amazing. I would not recommend watching it in your native language, because the acting and the performances from the actors are so good.

It's hard to say something about Us without ruining your impressions. You even better not to watch the trailer, which has several scenes that are important for the story. On the other hand, these points are completely incomprehensible without context, and in this - the fact that the narrative consists of several blocks that are uniquely connected is the main highlight of the picture.

And yet Us gives emotions, and the aftertaste remains for several days, but after all, Get Out was also good for its statements. This time, alas, Peele did not quite meet his goals. The director delves into the strata of the population, race and privileges that some people tax. In addition, he touches on the traits that make us the most humane. But this time, he has so many ideas that he can barely reveal them in two hours, not to mention putting them together. He opens the book without reading it. And this is perhaps the main problem of the picture.

The entire film, Us is a social metaphor about American society, revealing its priorities and flaws. Before us is another strong representative of the horror movie genre. I thought that this movie would get some nominations for the Oscars. Although Us may not convey something important to the viewer, pointing out the problems of modern society, the picture leaves an emotional mark after viewing, while entertaining and scaring.

Us is one of the most impressive horror films of recent years, which does not seek to scare. Peel encourages the viewer to read outside the brackets, not to take it literally. The final twist excites and continues to live in the head after watching along with the sounds of the enchanting soundtrack. And it is worth succumbing to the magic of the film, its metaphorical beauty, as he will not let go.

I would recommend this movie to everyone, especially the ones who are avid horror lovers like me. The impression which this movie will leave you cannot be described with words. I would not describe scenes because it would serve as spoilers and this is a movie that does not require any spoilers, but after you watch the movie, you will find out which scenes I am referring to. Moreover, I think that Jordan Peele is a fantastic director and I hope that in the future he will direct more amazing movies.
