Our stories and legends are full of strange cryptids and frightening beasts that have actually existed. But most of the time, the tales of grotesque creatures are simply tales of imagined creatures that are meant to fill a need in a story. However, not all bizarre creatures are fakes, and there's ample evidence to suggest they exist in our world. These are the top 6 scariest monsters that may exist.

6. Ireland's Lake monster

The Dobharchu is a terrifying cryptid with its origins in Ireland. It is a half-dog, half-fish hybrid that is five times larger than the typical Otter and is sometimes referred to as the "water hound" or "King Otter."It can swim and move on land, which is believed to be at the speed of a horse. The Dobhar-chu hunts with groups or pairs and chases prey around the waters and then onto land.

The Dobhar-chu is notoriously vicious toward dogs and humans and can kill and eat the animals. The legend of their viciousness toward humans revolves around a husband and wife, dating back to around the time of the 17th century.

Grace McGloighlin washed clothes in the Glenade Lough when her husband was able to hear her screaming. At the moment he came nearer, it was already late. The Dobharchu stood over her body, which was mangled. He cut the creature into the center.

The creature made a whistling sound when it passed out, which alerted its partner. The second Dobhar Chu chased the spouse down and killed him also. It is a resident of the freshwater lakes and the rivers of Ireland. Witnesses have observed it over the years. While many people think it's gone extinct, there is a chance that they still live on Achill Island.

5. Deer Women

Include deer women in your list of women Fatales that are legends. In the North American Central Plains and Woodland Native American tribes, deer women are typically an innocent spirit. They generally appear to women to indicate fertility, either as a human deer, or some combination of both. Sometimes, they'll appear to sexually attractive men and women by seducing them, and later taking them to the brink of end or to their eternal love.

In modern tales of the tribes of native people in Oklahoma, deer women are far more violent. They appear to be young women but have feet with hooves and eyes like deer. They draw men towards their land and then crush them until they die.

There is a belief that Deer Women are women who transformed after being sexually assaulted or brought back to life by the original Deer Woman spirit. Regardless of where the Deer Woman came from, there are documented sightings by a huge number of Native American tribes.

4. Blood-sucking reptile

There's nothing more classic than the story of this blood-sucking reptile that feeds on livestock. It was first discovered in Puerto Rico in 1995. The chupacabra, also known as the goatsucker, preys on animals and then sucks the blood of their victims.

It's about the size of a bear and comes with several protrusions of spiny hairs that span the length of its back. It is able to stand and hop like a kangaroo. It has a greenish-grey, leathery skin. The different and more "normal" variation of the creature resembles an animal that is wild.

All victims with blood loss suffer from three or two puncture wounds in the neck or chest. Since the initial sighting, the public has also reported that they have seen it in Maine as well as northwestern Mexico, Russia, and Chile.

Biologists and wildlife experts deny that there is a Chupacabra. They claim the animals that people are seeing are coyotes that have hair loss as well as Mexican furless dogs. There is an excellent chance that there is a "chupacabra" does exist, but not in an alien way.

The video footage depicts an unusual dog with a particularly big head, believed to be a chupacabra, moving along a dirt path. In the year 2010, a chupacabra escaped and was killed by animal control, which later proved to be a hybrid between a coyote and a dog with parasites and mange.

The sighting that the witness witnessed in 1995 was not a dog with hair. It was the stuff of nightmares.

3. Snallygaster

The name might be funny, but the animal is not a joke. The Snallygaster is a dragon-like monster with razor-sharp fangs that has been sighted by inhabitants of Frederick County, Maryland. It is based on Germanic superstition and has been spotted by people of Frederick County, Maryland.. The early stories of the Snallygaster may include the appearance of an octopus or vampiric characteristics.

After 1909, the myth was made an actuality. After reports of encounters with the beast began appearing in the newspapers of that time, the animal was seen everywhere all the way from New Jersey to Ohio. Eyewitnesses claimed that the Snallygaster's eye was on its forehead.

The Smithsonian Institute was drawn to a frightening tale of a man being abducted by the Snallygaster and drained of his blood the same year. The Institute offered an award to anyone who could show its hide. However, the tale was so horrific that President Theodore Roosevelt even considered postponing his trip to hunt it.

The most recent version of the story comes from Washington County, Maryland. It is believed that the beast was snuffed out by the moonshine fumes and dropped out of the sky and into the ground. Revenue agents then destroyed the vat as well as its body. Nobody has seen it since then.

2. The Mantis Man

A creepy animal that is not just scary but also shy? The Mantis Man is a 7-foot tall insect that resembles the praying mantis. It is definitely not a species that has people who are afraid of insects! The reports of its sighting indicate that it was swimming through the Musconetcong River in New Jersey. This is quite distinct from the praying mantis that we are familiar with. The mantis does not spend time in the water.

The location of the creature and the reality that the Earth's environment can't create a bug this large can lead to the conclusion that Mantis Man is an aquatic creature. Or, it may be an extraterrestrial. If you happen to encounter it, you don't need to worry about it attacking you. It is reported that it flees once you are too close.

1. Mothman

In the cold winter autumn of 1965, the notorious Mothman was in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. While preparing for burial, five men spotted something flying from the trees. They didn't see an animal, but a terrifying humanoid.

Mothman doesn't resemble a moth. It's about 7' tall and has a wingspan of between 10 and 15 feet. It has two red eyes at the center of its chest. It also shuffles like a penguin as the wings fold. Anyone who looks at its eyes or sees a glimpse of its face feels an overwhelming sense of fear or psychological anxiety, as well as an overwhelming sense of evil.

Many think they believe that Mothman warns people about imminent catastrophes. Some believe it's a demon, an angel, as well as the outcome of the curse. While people have seen Mothman often since 1965, it's generally regarded as a myth or an erroneous name of a sandhill crane.
