The Whispering Woods

Late one evening, Jake and his friends drove through a remote stretch of road in Pennsylvania, looking for a shortcut back to town. The GPS glitched, rerouting them through a dense forest. As the car crept along the winding path, the engine sputtered and died.

“Great,” Jake muttered, stepping out with a flashlight. The others stayed inside, uneasy in the eerie silence.

Then, the whispers began. Faint, childlike voices echoed between the trees.

“Help me…”

Jake froze. The voice came from the woods, just beyond the tree line. Against his better judgment, he stepped forward. The air grew colder. The flashlight flickered. The whispers multiplied.

He turned back—only to see the car, now dark and empty. His friends were gone. The doors stood open, but no footprints led away.

The whispers grew into a chorus.

“Stay with us.”

The last thing Jake saw was a shadowy figure standing just behind him… before everything went black.

By morning, the car was found abandoned, its doors shut. There was no sign of Jake or his friends—just the faint sound of whispers lingering in the wind.
