It was a dark and stormy night, and Emily was home alone. She had always been a bit nervous about being home alone, but tonight, something felt different. There was an eerie silence that seemed to hang in the air, and she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched.

She tried to ignore her fears and settled in for the night, but as she lay in bed, she couldn't help but feel like someone was watching her. She sat up and peered out the window, but all she could see was the reflection of her own face staring back at her.

Despite her nerves, Emily eventually fell into a restless sleep, only to be awoken by a loud knock at the door. She sat up in bed, her heart racing, as the knock came again. She slowly made her way to the door, trying to convince herself that it was just the wind or a stray animal.

As she reached for the doorknob, she suddenly felt a pair of cold hands on her shoulders. She turned around to see a figure standing behind her, its face hidden in the shadows.

"Who are you?" Emily asked, her voice trembling.

The figure didn't answer, but instead reached out and pointed to the window. Emily followed its finger and saw a figure standing outside, its face pressed against the glass as it stared in at her.

She screamed and ran back to her bed, pulling the covers over her head and hoping that the watcher in the window would go away. But as the night dragged on, she couldn't shake the feeling that it was still out there, watching her every move.

Emily tried to stay awake, but eventually, exhaustion overtook her, and she fell into a fitful sleep. When she woke up the next morning, the storm had passed and the sun was shining, but the feeling of being watched lingered in the air.

Determined to find out who or what was behind the strange events of the previous night, Emily decided to investigate. She started by checking the security cameras, but they had all been disabled. She searched the house, but there was no sign of an intruder.

As she sat at the kitchen table, trying to piece together the clues, she suddenly remembered the figure that had stood behind her the night before. Could it have been the watcher in the window?

Determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, Emily decided to set a trap. She set up a hidden camera and waited for the watcher to return.

As the night fell, Emily sat in the living room, her eyes fixed on the window. She had barely been waiting for five minutes when she saw the figure appear again, its face pressed against the glass as it stared in at her.

This time, Emily was ready. She jumped up and ran to the door, flinging it open and confronting the watcher face to face.

To her surprise, it was her neighbor, Mrs. Jenkins, who lived across the street. Mrs. Jenkins was known to be a bit of a nosy neighbor, and Emily had always suspected that she was the one responsible for the strange occurrences around the neighborhood.

"Mrs. Jenkins, what are you doing here?" Emily asked, trying to keep the anger out of her voice.

"I'm sorry, dear, I didn't mean to scare you," Mrs. Jenkins said, looking sheepish. "I just saw the light on and wanted to make sure everything was okay. I didn't mean to cause any trouble."

Emily couldn't believe it. All this time, the watcher in the window had been her.
