The Voice That Knows My Death
Every night at 3:17 AM, my phone rings… and the voice tells me exactly how I will die.

The first time it happened, I thought it was just a nightmare.
3:17 AM.
My phone rang loudly in the darkness of my room. I remember staring at the screen, half asleep, confused. The number was unknown. No country code. No name.
I answered.
At first, there was only silence.
Then… breathing.
Slow. Deep. Like someone standing right behind me.
“Hello?” I whispered.
A voice replied—calm, emotionless.
“You die tomorrow.”
The call ended.
I laughed nervously and checked the time again. 3:18 AM. I told myself it was just a prank, maybe a friend trying to scare me.
But the next day, something strange happened.
On my way to work, I saw a car crash right in front of me. The driver—dead instantly. And the weirdest part?
He looked exactly like me.
Same hair. Same jacket. Same face.
I couldn’t breathe.
That night, I didn’t sleep.
And at exactly 3:17 AM…
My phone rang again.
This time, I didn’t want to answer.
But something inside me forced my hand.
“Hello…” I said, shaking.
The same voice.
“You avoided it today.”
My heart stopped.
“What do you want from me?” I shouted.
A pause.
Then the voice whispered—
“But you can’t avoid it forever.”
Click.
I didn’t go outside the next day. I locked every door. Closed every window. I even turned off my phone.
Still…
At 3:17 AM…
It rang.
Even though it was OFF.
I stared at it, frozen in fear.
Slowly… I answered.
“You die in your sleep tonight.”
I didn’t sleep.
I sat awake until sunrise, my eyes burning, my body exhausted.
Morning came.
I was still alive.
For a moment… I felt relief.
Maybe I beat it again.
Maybe I was stronger than whatever this was.
That’s when I noticed something strange.
My reflection in the mirror… didn’t move.
I stepped closer.
It stared back at me… smiling.
But I wasn’t smiling.
My blood turned cold.
Then it spoke.
Without moving its lips.
“You’re already dead.”
I stumbled back, my heart racing.
“No… no, that’s not possible…”
The room suddenly felt different.
Quiet.
Too quiet.
I ran outside.
But the street…
Was empty.
No people. No cars. No sound.
Like the world had been erased.
Then I heard it again.
The voice.
Not from my phone.
From behind me.
“You never avoided it,” it said softly.
I turned slowly.
And saw… myself.
Standing there.
Broken. Pale. Lifeless.
Eyes completely black.
“That crash yesterday…” it continued.
“You didn’t watch it.”
“You were in it.”
My legs gave out.
“No… I remember… I was standing—”
“You remember what your mind allowed.”
The figure stepped closer.
“You died instantly.”
“And now… you’re stuck.”
I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think.
“Stuck… where?”
The thing smiled wider.
“In the moment before you accept it.”
Everything around me began to distort.
The sky cracked like glass.
The ground beneath me disappeared.
And suddenly…
I was back in my bed.
My phone ringing.
3:17 AM.
Unknown number.
My hands trembled as I picked it up.
I already knew what I would hear.
But this time… the voice sounded different.
It sounded like me.
“You die tomorrow.”
The line went dead, but I didn’t move. My hand stayed frozen against my ear, my breath shallow, uneven.
Tomorrow.
The word echoed in my mind like a ticking clock.
I didn’t sleep that night.
I sat in the dark, watching the minutes crawl past, waiting for something—anything—to happen. Every sound felt louder. Every shadow looked alive.
Morning finally came.
Sunlight filled the room, and for a moment, I felt stupid. Maybe it was all in my head. Maybe I was losing it.
I grabbed my jacket and stepped outside.
Everything seemed normal.
People walking. Cars passing. Life going on.
But then… I noticed something strange.
Everyone I passed… stared at me.
Not casually.
Intensely.
Like they knew something I didn’t.
I quickened my pace, my heart starting to race.
Then I saw it.
Across the street.
A small crowd had gathered.
Someone was lying on the ground.
I don’t know why, but I walked closer.
Slowly.
Carefully.
As if I already knew what I would find.
The crowd parted just enough for me to see.
And there I was.
My body.
Broken. Lifeless. Blood spreading beneath my head.
My vision blurred. My chest tightened.
“No…” I whispered.
“That’s not me…”
But it was.
Every detail. Every scar.
It was me.
A hand suddenly grabbed my shoulder.
Cold.
Too cold.
I turned around.
And saw… myself.
Standing there.
Alive.
Smiling.
“You’re early,” it said softly.
My throat went dry.
“What… is this?”
It leaned closer, its eyes dark and empty.
“This is tomorrow.”
The world around me began to fade.
The people. The street. The noise.
All disappearing.
Until it was just me…
And the thing wearing my face.
“You were never meant to escape,” it whispered.
And then…
Everything went black.
