THE UNQUESTIONED SECRET

The school had a long vacation which happened to be a privilege for Monica and her friends to go to the pool. At the pool, the ladies had a whole lot of fun together. The bag fell to the ground. “Thank you”, she said to Julius sharply. “Hey I’m Julius; may I know your name please?” “I’m Monica”, she said, busy pressing her phone while some of her friends went to the pool to swim. Minutes after, she went to the pool to swim as she saw Julius capturing her. “Hey! Idiot, why would you take pictures of me without my consent”!? She asked angrily, smashing his phone on the floor. “Monica, I’m deeply sorry, I… I was just too afraid to come to meet you for your permission”, he said, begging her. Monica walked away and left the pool.

A day after, when she had gotten to the pool with her friends, they joked and Angel, who happened to be Monica`s were telling them about how she met a handsome guy on the bus on her way home the previous day, Monica had lost her mind. “Wow! What a handsome dude!” she said as the word mistakenly flipped out of her mouth. “Who are you talking about?” her friends asked her. Monica pointed to the guy as he was heading to the pool with his swimming pant and his broad chest, being charming which attracted Monica and made her so much un-concentrated and imbalanced. Immediately, she left the midst of her friends and sat at the poolside with her cup of drink in her hand and her headset. As the handsome guy was enjoying his swimming, she tried getting the guy attracted so she can gain his attention. “Hey, handsome! You are a very good swimmer and I would love you to teach me how to swim better”, she said to him smiling, “It’s never a problem if only you can concentrate he added. “I’m Monica and came with my friends to catch some fun since we are on a long vacation and I do not feel like traveling out of the country, so coming to the pool is never a bad idea, she said, gaining his attention over. Oh! Well, it`s fine, I also used the opportunity to visit the pool and get some relaxation over here” he added. “So, if you don’t mind, may I know your name? She asked. “Jezz, pardon my manners, I’m Jasmine. It`s nice meeting you and getting to know you”, Jasmine added. Monica discussed with jasmine at length like as if they’ve been a very good friend for ages. Angel seemed uncomfortable with Jasmine, could it be that Angel hated Jasmine, or Jasmine had offended her, or probably he was not the best person to make friendship with her dear friend, Monica? These whole questions kept on running through the other girl’s heart while swimming and noticing Angel’s unusual character towards them (Monica and Jasmine).

Monica found it very much easy to communicate with Jasmine even than her friends which question their hearts, thinking of how Monica had changed and had started making friends with the opposite gender. Well, their expression couldn’t be figured out in the midst of their confusion.

Weeks after, Monica sat at the poolside as usual waiting for her dear friend to come over. She had been excited for hours ago. Will it be that she had won the award prize of the quiz competition she participated in or she had been awarded as the most diligent student of the year in her high school? Well, these questions couldn’t be answered by anyone even her friends or family members. She wanted to make her new friend the very first person to hear the hot gist. Hours later, she found no one to be approaching her. Then later she stood up to look for him. On getting to Jasmine`s relaxation spot, she found his jacket on the chair and a cup of drink. Monica became so much worried and really bothered. This can’t be! This is leaving some traces that Jasmine was her this morning before I arrived. She saw Julius who happened to be Jasmines’ friend at the poolside sitting all alone which was quite unusual of him. As she was approaching him, she noticed a necklace on his neck, looking just exactly the same as that on her neck also. What is really happening here, the whole thing is looking strange, what could have happened before my arrival, why did I even come late today? She asked herself all these questions while Angel heard her speaking to herself all alone. Angel consoled her as she saw Monica questioning herself with tears all over her beautiful cheeks.

FOUR YEARS LATER

It was four years ago Monica had visited the pool after the whole scenario occurred. She was filled with memories of how she used to play with Jasmine but now, she had no other option than to be with Julius, whom she despised four years ago. She remembered how she smashed his phone on the ground. “Help me!” she heard a loud shout of noise. Immediately she ran to the pool to see what was going on, on getting there, two of her friends have been drowned. As others were trying to help them, one other person also fell into the pool and was drowned. This became a horror story they cannot explain or give details of. The remaining two ladies with Julius and Monica kept wondering what had just happened. Of course, they couldn’t just fathom it.

“I can see a big live cat in the middle of the pool just now” one of the ladies shouted “A big live cat in the pool”? They all echoed with shock. “Please don’t try to jump into the pool; it might be a spirit which can possibly harm you”. Julius begged. But the lady fell into the pool and couldn’t control herself as a hand was pulling her legs downward. Angel jumped inside to help together with Julius as the lady was screaming that a hand was pulling her downward. The three of them were helpless as they all experienced the same thing.

“They are all drowned” Monica shouted with her voice almost cracking. She kept on shouting and crying. As she was rolling on the floor, suddenly the big cat came out of the water, Monica shouted for help. As she was busy shouting she saw Jasmine. “Jasmine, are you the big cat pulling my friend`s leg, making them drown? I…I thought “she said with great fear in her, thinking it was her own time also to be killed since her friends had been killed.

Jasmine said; “Monica, but I love you, why would you choose Julius over me after all the hatred you had for him. I thought you love me deeply? Why would you have fallen in love with the one who drown me? Aren’t you aware he caused all these calamities? Seeing that you came late that very day, he got me to drown intentionally. I thought you love me, why couldn’t you question him since four guys have come to reveal the secret to you?
